Who Cares??

My predictions are as follows:

Harvard

Princeton

Yale

Stanford

MIT

UPenn

Duke

Cal Tech

Columbia

Dartmouth

Northwestern

Brown

Cornell

U of Chicago

J Hopkins

For regular decision, Penn was 20.6 percent, which rounds to 21 percent, I belive Dartmouth was 16.5 percent, Cornell was 26.1 percent.

lol, collegekid, you called mine ridiculous but ours is almost exactly the same

columbia, dartmouth are switched with duke, thats about it

I think that MIT and CIT should be near the top, even though 5 and 8 are good, just because they are nuts

how come college rankings change so much from year to year...i mean, the same top 10 are always top 10, but they always drastically change spots

when i say this is what i predict, realize, i am not saying if i agree with it. There are some factors that are given a lot of weight that I do not think are indicative of a school's excellence, if you will. For example, expected graduation rate, financial resources, etc.... Some schools exceed in these categories, which reallly pull up their ranking. For example, without these categories, Wash U and Emory for sure would be knocked out of the top 25.

I think expected graduation rate is silly...

a friend of mine, whose mom works at USNWR, was telling me that the rankings were going to look like this.

Princeton

Harvard

Yale

Penn

Stanford

MIT

Duke

where is cornell goin to be bern? :)

Penn tied with Yale ??? hmmm...

Someone who also "claims" to have a connection to US News says its like this:
HYP, Stanford, MIT, Dartmouth, Penn/Duke, Columbia, etc.

lol. and the funny thing is that he's going to dartmouth...

Princeton #1

Ah yes the rankings are EXTREMELY accurate. (sips glass of wine)

I thought this was official and nearly died

Even though Penn and Princeton are ranked so high, why is it that these two schools are still in the shadow of Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and MIT?

how is princeton in the shadow of stanford? or mit for that matter.. or yale... its ranked first..

What does LAC stand for?

liberal arts college

I go to RPI. Given that the avg SAT went up 10 pts this yr to 1320, and that a new Biotech center was built and opened this year that also brought some prestigious new profs, would the ranking go up a bit??

the US News rankings are a very poor basis for overall academic comparison, except in general areas - as in, top 10 schools are top 10, top 30 schools are top 30

actually a math genius from my school is going to RPI next year, so that alone should bring its ranking up lol

It takes time for the perception of the population to change.

I think perception needs to change towards Princeton, but Penn is currently overrated in USNEWS IMO. Its along the lines of Columbia, Duke, Dartmouth, Brown: not better.
