haha same, good luck to you too! :)

i completely forgot my number but i did it at like 10 oclock the night we got our assignments. does anyone know if you can look at your request

Hey everyone!
I got into Deviney hall

my priority # was 3153

is this a goods hall? Should I request a new one?

I received my roommate info in the mail today. Keep an eye out

I got Kellum. Is it terrible?

Deviney and Kellum are traditional hall bathroom dorms that have not been renovated.
They cost less than the other dorms.
Buy some Damp Rid and ant traps.

Uhm. I’ve heard something about gigantic flying cockroaches
…is this an issue???
not necessarily for kellum and/or deviney, just in the dorms in general

I was assigned to Jennie Murphree which was my second choice after Gilchrist. my priority number was pretty low (around the 400’s) or at least I thought it was, and I was disappointed to see that I did not get a single room (double with randomly assigned roommate). is anyone familiar with this residence hall? I’ve already sent in a reassignment request and plan on calling the Housing office sometime later today.

hellomello -if you live in Florida you would know those are palmetto bugs, we don’t like to call them giant flying cockroaches here Boric acid works well for those.

hahaha I don’t care what anyone says, Palmetto Bug is just a gentler name.
There is no disguising that they are just as bad as cockroaches, even worse with the fact that they can take flight.
I refuse to come to terms with them
Not okay!

Janfsu, singles are few and far between, and many are taken by upperclassman before you even get to the freshman requests. 400 is a good number, but not for a single. It is just tough to get a single as a freshman. Gilchrist holds 225 students, 3 floors are women and 2 floors are men. It is a popular dorm. My guess is that there are 30-40 upperclassman living there, leaving about 110 slots for freshman women, and 0-1 of the singles are left for freshman. You did great getting your second choice. Murphee is a renovated dorms. The rooms seem roomy compared to other dorms. It is all girl, with visitation ending earlier–which can be nice. My D in Gilchrist had a roomate leave, then was assigned a night owl later in the year who had friends over ALL NIGHT. Luckily this roomate was only for 2 1/2 months.

The dorms in that area are all close, close to Suwanee, and I think you will enjoy it.

For a reassignment are we likely to know if we got a change before school starts in the fall?

sunnyflorida, that’s the thing… I’m not a freshman. I’ll be a junior in the fall. I’ve only lived on campus for summer semester in my freshman year and lived off campus for the duration but hated where I lived. I don’t have a car and living on campus was sort of convenient.

oooooooooo. Well I am so sorry. You asked if anyone was familiar with JM Hall so I assumed you were new. You know that you lost priority once you moved off campus :(. Seems they count consecutive semesters in housing first, then your class year. So you are only ahead of incoming freshman in priority. Call housing and find out how to fill out a reassignment request indicating you want only a single. You have a better shot than the freshman!!

hey i got in to deviney hall as well! i had a priority number of 3785. ive already seen who my roomate is via facebook.

If you are new to Florida you may as well know the bugs like natives know them:

[Palmetto Bug](<a href=“Florida woods cockroach - Eurycotis floridana - BugGuide.Net”>Florida woods cockroach - Eurycotis floridana - BugGuide.Net) Mostly found outside; cannot fly.
[American Cockroach](<a href=“American Cockroach - Periplaneta americana - BugGuide.Net”>American Cockroach - Periplaneta americana - BugGuide.Net) Occasionally found inside, especially where food is available or a door left open in summer. Common outside - can fly short distances; a newspaper works well.
[German Cockroach](<a href=“Species Blattella germanica - German Cockroach - BugGuide.Net”>Species Blattella germanica - German Cockroach - BugGuide.Net) The bane of apartments - can infect room after room; get an exterminator.
[Giant Water Bug](<a href=“Species Lethocerus americanus - Giant Water Bug - BugGuide.Net”>Species Lethocerus americanus - Giant Water Bug - BugGuide.Net) Not a roach. A significant predator found in lakes and ponds. Not found inside, except by accident, but occasionally under street lamps in summer. Can inflict a painful bite. Don’t pick them up.
[Florida State Bird](<a href=“Search - BugGuide.Net”>Search - BugGuide.Net) Call the county and ask them to spray.

:)

Mosquitos are terrible here.
BUGSPRAY.

For those of you in Deviney…they are putting in all new carpeting and it is being painted. We stopped by to check it out during orientation.
