Fall 2013 Early Action

To everyone waiting to her from housing, have you considered sharing an apartment with some people from the thread? I’ve been looking on Craigslist and there seems to be some great affordable places with many bedrooms, and you’d be sharing it with people who understand how important your studies are. I have a place lined up in Chinatown, but would definitely consider sharing a place with some of you closer to campus! Think about it and hit me up if interested!

to6284 - Friend of mine who went through both options (first semester shared apartment using craigslist and two personal friends - second semester UAH) said to definitely try to through UAH first. My guess is that based on the accommodations UAH might be more friendly price wise? Maybe not though. If I don’t get an assignment I’ll definitely consider it and send you a PM. My priority is living close to campus and keeping it relatively inexpensive is a close second. I also plan on spending the majority of my time at home studying.

My school sent out a transcript to GS on May 31st, and my application page STILL says that they haven’t received it! I sent an email to GS about a week ago and got the usual “We are experiencing high email volume blah blah” automatic response. Should I start worrying?

CelloDiego - Whether it was admissions, financial aid, or housing I found that calling has been much more effective than e-mail. Especially if they’re inundated with e-mails from applicants or new students.

Call them, I had similar situation because my transcript was marked as provisional/pending. I was able to resolve everything over the phone. Ms. Davis ( admin assistant ) is suuuuper sweet and helpful. If you have unofficial transcript they will accept it ( my school gives an online access to grades, I’m sure your does as well). Bottom line, everything must be submitted by July 1.

Also, I took TOEFL few days ago, and official letter won’t arrive until probably mid July, however, I sent a computer print with my scores and they accepted it. Now my application is under review.

But you must call; my first e-mail was not answered either. After I had called they sent an e-mail reply within 15 min.

Good Luck!!

UAH usually requires a deposit within 48 hours. You may want to think about freeing up some cash before next week.

Columbia0830,

I called them today and they had not received my transcript. Unfortunately, my school is closed until Monday so I cannot do anything until then. I have a large suspicion that my transcript was sent to CC admissions instead of GS, which is basically the same thing that happened with my school and Yale (Transcript was thrown into the main undergraduate pool instead of the Eli Whitney office!). I did send the admissions lady an unofficial transcript so I hope that suffices until I figure something out.

Received my UAH housing assignment today.

@CelloDiego
Just confirm that she did receive it and added to your application. If yes, you are good to go. Make sure to request official transcript asap. I asked for one to be mailed to my home address just in case.

aicccia,

If you don’t mind me asking; where are you moving from, and what did UAH offer you?
Friday I received 2 (repeated) e-mails stating my UAH app was approved, although still waiting on an assignment.

hellojan, is the UAH deposit refundable if we choose to defer?

I mailed my final transcripts because I still wasn’t done with Spring semester and they received it the following day. Will they email/mail me the amount of units they’ll allow for transfer, or do I have to call and request that?

Also, I recently registered on STORYBOOK. If you’re on there, look for me, I’m the guy that created the Film Club group. :]

Natdcny : did you register already ? How did you do that ? Am I missing something ?

Yea, after APS you can meet with your advisor and register for classes.

I registered last Wednesday, many courses are already filled but I managed to sketch out a schedule that follows my core and major requirements while fitting into my available time slots. Worked out great! Takes some time to pick classes though, good luck to you all… Hope you get the classes you want!

Good news! This came in my email today:

Dear XXX,

I am extremely sorry for the delay in responding to your email. I have reviewed your file and see that your unofficial transcript is here and your file is being reviewed at this time by the Admissions Committee.

Again, please accept my apology for the delay in responding. Good Luck!

Thank you,

Lisa

Happy 4th of July! And Happy Rawanda Liberation Day (never know, interational students)!

haha…i think i may follow ur lead and start posting here too…lol

*thumbs up

Has anyone checked out the campus gym? If so, how is it and is it available to all students? Running outdoors in the NYC summer heat is BRUTAL!

I’m in London, and today is only the 2ND DAY OF WARM WEATHER!!! I can’t wait for NYC…
