@kflowers I’m soooo sorry to hear that you weren’t accepted!! Keep your head up, there are options! I’m catching up on this thread, so please forgive me if my information is no longer relevant. To answer your question about Berkely or LIM, as I had the same one: my friend that went to FIT for ITM recommended LIM over Berkely only because when he was going to FIT they were getting their students internships at places like Versace while he was only offered one at a third rate fashion magazine (whose name I’ll redact). He did, however, say that Berkely is on an upward trajectory. Don’t forget you can also sign up for non-degree credit courses, like me. If you have your heart set on FIT maybe you can register then speak with admissions and your department directly while you are taking classes. I actually just signed up for all my classes today (registration opened at 9 EST for non-degree students). Although I primarily wanted to take day classes it will allow me to find work at places that may close in the mid-afternoon as most my classes don’t start until either 5:30 or 6:30 pm. Also, I remember reading somewhere that professors in the evening classes are usually the ones that have more recent and relevant experience because they are the ones that leave their regular 9-5 (with contacts and connections) to come teach you what is currently going on in the industry, so that is something to consider. I know the process with Berkely is really easy and can be done in a short amount of time, I’m not so sure with LIM. I hope this helps!

@Sheofthesea Apologies for EXTREMELY late response. I’ve been super busy these days. I’m not sure exactly what information you are referring to, but I went to their website under Adult Learners/Continuing Education from there I went to credit courses. You can sign up for a certificate program, or like me, take non-degree credit courses which are rather limited in their availabilities (read: if it’s in a degree related class like FMM or Adv you’ll primarily be restricted to evening classes which usually start around 5:30). To view classes that open, just go into your MYFIT account somewhere in there you should be able to either click register or view/add open classes, or view all available classes depending on what your page looks like. From there you navigate to the course you are interested in and you’ll see all the classes offered. Now, click on the class number (usually 4-5 numbers), from there you will see the class time. The key is to click on the course/class title link again and from there you will see seating availabilities and under that you will see the most important information: restrictions. If there are no restrictions listed or it says non-degree you can sign up for that class. To save you some time most of the available courses for non-degree students are towards the bottom, but don’t be afraid to click literally every class because one class at one time may be restricted, but another class at the same time on the same day may not. Also, make sure you take a minute to look at the classes you need for your degree and what classes fill the requirements because I was not able to get all the exact courses I wanted (I was planning to take their placement test, but I won’t be able to until after I move) so I’m taking a social science and art history class this semester instead of english and another course. Additionally you can call Continuing Education and they can assist you, I would also advise you speak with the department you are interested in eventually applying for so you don’t take unnecessary classes. If you have any more questions I’ll be more than happy to help.

I’ve been away for a while so i would like to wish everyone that got their acceptance letters a big huge CONGRATULATIONS!!! To those that got wait listed: this is not a definite no, you still have the opportunity to get in, so dig deep and write those letters, get recommendations, send in updated transcripts, etc. Also, start working on your plan B. Finally, for those that didn’t get in: welcome to the club, lol. It’s alright, I’m sure you all are questioning yourselves at this point, but look at it as a chance to make yourself a stronger applicant. There are other great schools out there as well, so look into those…you may end up having a better time there. Possibly you can take classes at your local community college to bump up your gpa or even register as a non-degree credit student, like I did (but I’m moving to new york anyway, so it wasn’t that big of a deal).

Regardless of what the outcome was, one thing is certain: this is the beginning of a new chapter for us all. To those that do decide to attend FIT, I’ll be there in the evenings and all day Tuesday so don’t be a stranger!!

@thercbray you signed up for classes at FIT ?! and I’m still waiting for a decision lol but I’ll most likely apply for Spring to AMC so if I’m wait-listed or rejected I’ll be satisfied lol

@TransferAppFIT I sure did lol! The only thing is that I had to do some digging to find out exactly which classes were available and I’m taking night classes, but hey I’m still getting my education. Here’s to hoping you get in!!!

@TransferAppFIT omg you too! I am still waiting a response as well.

@thercbray that’s awesome! My main reason for going to FIT is the city and to network lol but I’m glad you’re taking classes there!

@todayisnow yes I’m still waiting for a decision lmao at this point I already made plans to applying for Spring lol

@TransferAppFIT then come!! Even if, knock on wood, you don’t get in just take classes and meet the professors who, if you impress, may speak on your behalf especially if you develop a working relationship with them. It should still be an option for you because you can work part time or maybe even get an internship during the day. The only inhibitor is your determination to make it work.

@thercbray believe me if I could just come I would lmao but I’m taking 2 summer classes at the college I’m at now to finish up some stuff and probably intern at the art museum here in the marketing and communications department during the Fall but I am gonna reapply for Spring for AMC which is not too long from here lol

GOT ACCEPTED INTO FMM!!!

@TransferAppFIT YAAAAAYYYY!!! I’m so happy for you!! I can only imagine how stressful it was waiting this long…

@thercbray Thank you! I just paid my tuition deposit today and yes very stressful. I had applied to the 2 year but they decided to put me in the one year program I guess cause I’ll 42 credits when I get there but yes the wait is finally over lmao

@transferappfit CONGRATS!!! See you on campus!! :)

@transferappfit congrats!!! when did you find out? This means good news for me, I still haven’t received anything in the mail yet.

@artsyfartsy96 Thank you!

@todayisnow The letter actually came yesterday but I never checked it until this morning lol

lol! good! @transferappfit

@TransferAppFIT Congrats!!! :D

@Rollieee Thanks !

@TransferAppFIT well you’ll be done sooner! I can’t wait to see around campus!

Is anyone still waiting like me? Called again (3rd time in the last 3 weeks) and they said it’s being reviewed, I’ll here something in 2-3 weeks (same response last week and week after that).
