mine just turned to “in review”. I heard we should hear back around April.

not in review yet. is Undeclared UGS a good 2nd choice for CNS computer science?

I really don’t know what’s the difference between UGS and COLA undeclared. I pick COLA undeclared as my second choice, not sure if it is any easier to get in than UGS.

Guess there is nothing we can do at this point. So just hang in there and wait.

Has anyone filled out a scholarship application?

I’m confused in the financial information section because it asks for tuiton costs for sept 2014- may 2015 which would be 2 semesters, but I don’t understand what the term “long session” means referring to the UT calendar. Does anyone know the average cost of tuition for a full academic year is?

Long session simply means you go to school full-time and take at least 12 credit hours. Average in-state tuition at UT for a full academic year is $9,346 – 10,738.

Do you guys think Mccombs raises their standards for admission to people who have 30 hours in progress? Also, Mccombs has listed an average transfer GPA, but do you think the rigor of the courses and the fact that they were taken at a University affect the decision? I personally am very very well rounded but suffer from a 3.74 GPA that i think can inhibit my chances for acceptance to Mccombs.

Mccombs doesn’t consider really where you came from… As long as you pretty much make A’s in any business related course. They take mostly 3.9 and 4.0, but they also want people who are involved. So they might take your 3.7.

If UT is waiting for your 30 hours to be complete, do they at least read your essays and other credentials before the final transcript is sent?

How would a 4.0 with no letters and no EC’s look? I will have 53 hours at the end of this semester and I’m looking to transfer externally into Mccomb’s

@Korsgaard They will not touch your application until your 30 hours are complete.

@Faith2017 They do a holistic review, so it might hurt but a 4.0 still gives you a good shot.

Has anyone applied for housing yet? Are off campus apartments like the towers worth it in comparison to on campus dorms? I would go in as a sophomore maybe junior but I’m still the age of a freshman. Which one would be the best environment and is it too late to get a good dorm at this point?

@DeeGeeErbear
Could you please chance me?

@rangers32: I’m already send my application for the ICC Co-op. The Co-op houses look like they about to break down in any minute but hence, they’re cheap and really close to campus. I will be 19 by the time I enter UT next fall (assuming that I get accepted) and I can’t afford off-campus dorm but at the same time I don’t want to be stressed out with bills if I live in an apartment so I go for co-op. The website is here: http://iccaustin.coop/index.shtml

CileyMyrus: I’d say you have a very good shot with UGS and a 3.5. Your extracurriculars make you very well rounded and involved. I think you have a good chance depending on the room left in UGS after freshmen are accepted in. UGS can fill up because of freshmen, but I don’t think you’ll really have a problem.

DeeGee,
Do you know what’s the difference between UGS and COLA undeclared? I was going to apply for UGS as my second choice but then I heard that that department is mainly for freshmen and can be fill up quick like you say so I applied for COLA undeclared as my second choice instead. Do you think one is easier to get into than the other?

I would think cola undeclared
Is easier due to the freshmen issue.

Ugh, I didn’t know that UGS could fill up…? That makes me so much more nervous.

Lets say you have a 3.7 and you don’t get accepted into mccombs or cockrell, but have economics listed as a second choice major. Clearly a 3.7 is above average for COLA, but is it possible that they might view the application differently because economics was listed as the second choice major?

No^
