I hope they dont either. I dropped my u.s. govt class because I had a horrible professor that made us watch movies in class and tested us on readings from the textbook. I dropped it because I wasn’t learning anything and I would have gotten a low B. Im taking the class again this semester, but now I’m taking it online with a different professor and I have an A so far. If only they could see that but since I already have 30 hours they won’t take this semester into consideration. Oh well.

I drop a government class as well in High School Dual Credit, but the thing is that government class (2301) is no longer offer by the state of Texas as they changed the curriculum so I can’t even take that class again.

@maria268 I got into Mathematics.

so does anyone want to bet on when the decisions will be sent out for fall 2014? week of the 14th, 21st, or the 28th? anyone know what it has been in the past?

bump @mandler

Also, what about the prospective summer student decisions? This week, maybe? :-w

In past threads, a lot of people were finding out during the first week of april, so that’s what I am hoping for but I am not getting my hopes up

I dropped a class because I realized it would be a waste taking it if I couldn’t transfer. I also added a new class thats like 5 weeks. Has any1 here reapplied for admission?

I dropped an algebra class my first college semester at Texas State, and then retook it and got an A my last semester there. I don’t think they frown upon a dropped class, I managed with only 10 hours my first semester and was still accepted! They don’t know the circumstance, so they can’t hold that against you.

Okay, thanks for the feedback.

I went back to look at the fall 2013 thread and saw it was definitely April for fall decisions with 30 hours but no actual dates ugh

Does UT look at upward trend as well? Also, I know I’ve probably asked this before but how does UT look at your GPA when they are accepting you again?

Yes upward trend helps tremendously. And the GPA is considered competitive above a 3.6. (The average accepted into all colleges.) that doesn’t mean that high GPAs are always accepted, but the higher the better.

Hey dee do you think the essays I write in the financial aid section can help my chances of acceptance? Or do the admissions committee never look at those and leave it for the scholarship department?

I’m wondering because the scholarship deadline is April 1st, and yet people are saying acceptances go out first week of april. I wonder if thats just a coincidence or do they look at the scholarship essays as a sort of breaker for applicants.

The scholarship essays to my knowledge are not read by the admissions committee or play a part in your decision

~O)

Hey, been lurking for awhile and finally decided to join in on the agony of the wait we are all facing! I sent in my app the first week of December, so it’s been awhile but here are my stats for crockell:

Current college: Austin community college

GPA: 3.8

Major: Chem E (first) Biomed (second)

College: crockell

Extracurricular: Did music for several years all through hs and won many award and achievements. Worked my way through community college and have a pharmacy internship under my belt (switched majors last year to chemi E and talked about that in my essays). Do kickboxing and jiu jitsu outside of college…I don’t have recorded volunteer hrs, but I do volunteer my time and tutor people in math and chemistry a course of hours a week and I run 5k and 10ks for charity purposes. Overall I just love to lead a healthy lifestyle and be outdoors.

Unfortunately I have no letters of rec and this worries me a little I just never got close enough to any professors so I didn’t feel comfortable asking for any letters of rec.
Essays: I feel like they are strong and my uncle who got into USC for grad school said they looked great too.

If it means anything, I’m also female and Hispanic and my mom graduated from mccombs. I have completed all math courses, calc 1-3 with A’s and DEQ with a B (my prof was NUTS and has the highest failure rate at ACC). I am also taking O chem two this semester and it’s going very well! Anticipating an A. The only other B’s I have are in o chem 1 and eng physics 2. I worry because I was a solid A student for a few semesters, then this past fall I got B’s in both my classes (DEQ and eng physics 2). So I’m sure that looks like a downward trend and I worry about my lack of rec letters. Anyways, enough rambling, what do y’all think? I wish everyone great luck as we get decisions soon! :)

MsChemE, stats are great! Very good chance of being accepted!

Hey MsChemE I am just wondering was your professor for DiffEq Dr McCarthy?

Thank you DeeGeeErbear!

And want2engr I had mark burtch for DEQ last semester. I don’t think McCarthy taught it last semester. It was between burtch and McGuff
