Hi DeeGeeErbear, it’s very nice of you to do this!

Here is my information,
international student

List extra curriculars i’ve already taken cal 1/2, composition 1/2, chem 1/2, history 1/2, government 1, humanity elective, social science elective. Now I am taking cal 3, university physics 1, government 2, and technical writing. 30-hour community service with two letters from local churches
Number of letters of Rec and who wrote them: i don’t have any reference letter… :(

Hey guys, so I heard back from one school today! That was University of Cali-Santa Barbara and I got rejected! I did hear it is hard to transfer to Cali schools from OOS, so we will see if Berkley or UCLA work out! Oh well, Ut Austin is still my top choice so if I get into there, I’d be super happy

I have around 60 hours, maybe more like 62. Whether it all transfers is a different story because idk of ACC classes will transfer over there. The Cali app kind of confused me because they do their stuff I quarters rather than semesters, so I had to try and convert everything. Idk how accurate I was with that because I decided to apply two days before the deadline, so I had a major time crunch! Did your dad like Berkeley Redwing54?

MsChemE, My father went to grad school at Cal (Boalt Hall and Haas MBA) and to UT. He says UT and Cal are about the same academically. But he’s a Longhorn at heart. Hook’em!

MegYuan: you’re stats look great! I don’t think not having letters of rec will hurt you. Engineering looks at your GPA and grades in your math/science classes more so than most of the colleges. It also appears that you’re taking the right prerequisites, so I don’t think you should have any worries!

@DeeGeeErbear thank you so much!
I am so anxious now, because I got denied from TAMU last month with saying that they need my spring transcript to make the decision. I couldn’t think of UT would take me!!! but you definitely made me feel better

Current College: University of North Texas - 52 hours completed already, 67 hours completed by the end of this semester
Current GPA: 3.543 (UNT GPA)
3.25 Freshman 1st Semester

3.8 Sophomore 1st Semester

With my 6 transferable credit hours from my CC dual credit course back in HS, my overall Transfer GPA is brought down to 3.42 :(

College applied to: COLA
Major: Economics
List Extra-curriculars: Sigma Chi Fraternity (Scholarship Chairman/Executive Position) , UNT Asian Student Association (Treasurer/Scholarship Chairman) , Order of Omega (Greek Honor Society) , Professional Leadership Program (Business Honor Society) , Greek Emerging Leader (Greek Honor Society) , and I am a member of many more numerous scholarship and leadership programs and affiliations for my school.
Number of Letters of Rec and who wrote them: 2 Superb Letters of Rec. One from my Fraternity President and one from my Fraternity Province Advisor (High Position in National Fraternity)
Resume is very detailed and professional
Essays are the best essays I have written in a long time

I was wondering if the Admissions committee will look at my transferable coursework from my CC on top of my GPA from UNT? And I heard from multiple sources that UT Austin likes to look at the GPA trending throughout the Undergraduate semesters for its applicants, which I believe it will help me out alot. What are your thoughts??? Will the admissions office look at my GPA as a 3.42 or a 3.543 just from my coursework at UNT?

@DanielKim3 Unfortunately they do calculate your GPA from those dual credits course into your cumulative. The admission office will look at your cumulative GPA. And yes, the growth of your GPA trend will help.

Nice upward trend @DanielKim3
I’m kinda in the same situation. I had a 3.2 freshman semester and am most likely going to have a 3.6 for Spring semester.

Okay, so my first major is Psychology (COLA) and my second is Undeclared (UGS). I have a 3.7 as of right now, but its likely that I will finish bio 2 with a C. (If I get an A in pre-cal my gap will be a 3.6 and if I got a B then it would be a 3.48) I have 2 really good LOR’s and 2 what I think to be strong essays. Phi Theta Kappa, and some Ec’s from high school. Do you think my chances look bad since I will have a C? :/
