Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

so for those decisions that came last year around this time, we’re talking summer admissions right?

Acceptances aren’t usually revoked to my knowledge unless you get in serious legal trouble or something. A C in a non-major class shouldn’t hurt your chances unless it drops your cumulative GPA significantly lower.
Also summer admissions should be rolling out any day now.

Do the summer admissions get released before the fall? My friend had her acceptance last year by April 14th for fall

@DeeGeeErbear what are your thoughts on my stats for the admissions process?

I’m considering switching one of my majors (Gov/Econ) to Phil. If I go to UT, I plan on triple majoring. However, the problem is I wrote one of my essays about Econ and the other one is really about Politics. Won’t this be strange and inconsistent?

i actually just got off the phone with UT admissions and asked when they would be rolling out decisions for summer transfers and they said mid-late April, so we probably won’t be hearing back for another week or so.

@DeeGeeErbear‌ So is a 3.48 still possible to get in?

Saborak: a 3.4 is possible!
DanielKim: your 3.5 will be fine for cola with all of your extracurriculars
Korsgaard: I really do not recommend triple majoring, and I honestly have never heard of that. Double majoring with bridging disciplines certification could be an easier option for you. I would leave the majors you selected alone.

Kgerken: summer admits should hear back sooner, but admissions work in different departments for different colleges so there is no definite time frame.

@DeeGeeErbear‌ How difficult do you think it is to get into the college of education?

@UTfanatic1234 it’s harder than say liberal arts, but not as hard as engineering or business. probably easier than communications as well. if you have around a 3.6 you should be fine. Also, feel free to ignore what UT admissions said. They like to stick to what their website says but generally decisions are given out earlier. When i applied as a freshman they said march 1st was when we’d get decisions and i got a decision february 21st.

@mandler you probably got the earlier response, because you were applying as a freshman, who they prioritize. transfers are way down on the totem pole from what i hear. but since your an in-state transfer, you may know sooner than the rest.

@bninja9 yes obviously they prioritize freshman. however, UT is notorious for tell people the latest possible date you could receive word. usually, if they tell you a certain date you can expect to get a decision at least a week before that.

We’re probably gonna get our decisions on tuesday I bet.

Last year most people get their decision around the 13-16, so perhaps you mean next tuesday.

Someone just said the earliest was given out on april 4th.

@BigDeeOT a few people started getting them that early but for most people it was mid-april.

I’m so nervous :frowning: I really hope I get into the public health program. Good luck everyone!

I’m nervous too! I’ve been busting my butt at community college with the goal of transferring into UT…I hope it all doesn’t go to waste. Good luck to everyone and keep us posted! Hope we all get acceptance letters!

Me too!! It’s so nerve wracking!! I think I have a good shot, but you never know what their decision will be.

I already got accepted into the University of Houston, about a month ago! So I’m just glad I have an option if UT doesn’t work out. But it’s been my dream!

I’m sure y’all will be fine! Good luck
