Thanks @rangers32

@beebee23 Judging by last year’s CC thread, it looks like a lot of people were admitted the week spanning April 13-April 20. That thread seemed to have a similar trend as this one of people with extremely high GPAs getting notified first and then trickling downward. It looks like there was a fair amount of 3.3-3.5ish GPAs for COLA majors also, though. But in any event, this week and next week pretty much align with the dates of last years influx of acceptances/denials.

Awesome! Also, my really good friend is applying, and he is super anxious. He has around 3.3-3.4 GPA and is applying to COLA. He has a great essay plus work experience in a law firm and Starbucks. But the main question is, how much of an advantage is it to have a recommendation letter from one of Bill Powers’ best friends? The guy who wrote the letter, who was also my friend’s employer in the law firm, sent it to President Powers and someone on the Board of Regents. How do y’all think that might turn out? Just want to give my friend a little more clarity on his situation, but I honestly have no idea. Thanks again for any help or opinions on the matter! :)

Any day now guys!! Getting nervoussss! :-S

I’m still in review :(

Damn, I have to deal with two midterms during this week, plus an essay to due next week. one day seems to be one year for me…

I have two research papers and a speech due by the end of the week yet I find myself constantly refreshing my status instead :-SS

@carissadean is that for the summer applicants, fall applicants or for both?

~X( i cant wait more days, did anybody get an acceptance today

@DanielKim3 The info from the UT advisor? We were discussing my fall application, so I believe she was talking about fall exclusively. I have no idea about summer :/

For anyone applying to COE–I spoke to the admissions office today & they said that COE applicants probably won’t hear back until mid-late May. This is because of how competitive the program is and that they need to see spring transcripts for possible acceptances before they make final decisions. She gave me a statistic that for 2012 fall/summer transfers to COE, 400 something applied and only about 150 got in. I’m not sure how accurate her information is because each time I call the admissions office, I get a different answer. All I hope is that COE applicants don’t find out as late and do find out sometime in the next 2 weeks.

What do you guys think is a competitive gpa for the college of education? My major is physical cultures and sports

@tal212 The admissions office told me 3.5 is the average competitive gpa for COE

Hey guys! I know this thread is for Fall 2014, but I was wondering if anyone could chance me for Spring 2015? I’d greatly appreciate it.

Current School: San Antonio College
Current GPA: 4.0 (1st Semester); I’ll probably end up with a cumulative 3.83 this semester though.
Major: Computer Science
Colleges Applied To: CNS and UGS
Extracurricular/Work: I did cross-country and track for all four years during high school. I haven’t done any extracurricular activities as a freshman in college now, but I do work about 30 hours a week as a restaurant manager. I also occasionally volunteer at my church.
LOR: My history professor is working on a recommendation letter for me. He graduated from the same high school as I did, and we have a pretty close teacher/student relationship. I’ll probably get another LOR.

So for my first semester of college, Fall 2013, I took 15 hours total. My college made me take this 1 credit hour student development course (which will not count as transfer credit) required for first time college students, so I ended up with 14 hours. I also dropped one course, but missed the census date, since I felt that I would not need it. These were the courses I took:

SDEV 0170 (Student Success) - 1 credit hour —> A
SPAN 1311 (Elementary Spanish I) - 3 credit hours —> A
HIST 1301 (US History I) - 3 credit hours —> A
BIOL 1406 (General Biology I) - 4 credit hours —> WS
MATH 1414 (College Algebra) - 4 credit hours —> A
15 hours

I was initially pretty indecisive with my major, and I was just getting into the swing of things for college, so I didn’t want to take too many hours to overwhelm myself. As I got further into the semester, I decided to go with Computer Science as my intended major, after I dropped BIOL. I read on UT’s website that the CNS looks pretty closely on math/science courses taken and how well you did on those. Will it have a negative impact that I withdrew from one science class that I probably wouldn’t need?

This semester, Spring 2014, I’m taking these courses, along with my expected grades. Precal, I’m not sure what happened. I was doing fairly well, even through the midterm. Then for my next test, I ended up barely passing it. But I think I could still pull through with a high B/low A:

MATH 2412 (Precalculus) - 4 credit hours —> B
COSC 1336 (Programming Fundamentals I) - 3 credit hours —> A
HIST 1302 (US History II) - 3 credit hours —> A
MUSI 1306 (Music Appreciation) - 3 credit hours —> A
ECON 2301 (Principles of Macroeconomics) - 3 Credit hours —> A
16 hours

Finally, I’ll be taking Calculus I (4 hours) and Federal Government (3 hours) over the summer, accounting for 7 more credit hours. SPAN 1311, I’m going to ask if it will transfer or not, since I couldn’t find the course equivalency using their ATE system. But altogether, if I’m doing this correctly, I will have enough transferrable hours after I complete summer school, which is when I’ll submit my application - well before the October 1 deadline. I’ll also plan on taking physics and cal II during Fall 2014, amongst other classes. Assuming I get As in my summer classes, would it look better on my application, even getting a B in precal and dropping one science course early on? Also, when I apply for admission after completing Summer 2014, would they also consider Fall 2014 as part of my admissions process? Or would they just need the grades to confirm that I completed more courses? I’m sorry I made this pretty long I just really hope I can make it in! Good luck on all of y’alls admissions decisions as well!

I called admissions this morning and the lady revealed to me that for engineering the decisions should be out by this week.

All engineering?

I was asking for engineering, didnt specify which one, but she said I should find out by the end of this week.

@tal212 3.6+

@rogerybarra SDEV does not count towards transfer! I go to SAC and NVC, also calculus is a requirement for CNS but i really hope you get in. Your GPA is great so you should be fine!

Do y’all think a 3.48 will get me into UT? I’m so sad that my GPA is dropping so much from my 3.75 :(

@Saborak what’s your major? anybody can tell me what is the average GPA for cockrell, or more specifically civil engineering

@MeGYuan I am applying for Psychology, and UGS because I didn’t have my calc credit to apply for neuroscience. (Which now i’m glad i didn’t )
