Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

Have any Petroleum Eng. been accepted yet?

@Kscull 512-475-7387

Btw , to anyone who can answer this. I applied to UGS undeclared and ME… 1st and 2nd in that order. As well my app is currently in review . I have 45+ hours. 3.34 gpa currently, buts it’s been upward trending with a 3.0 at CC one semester to a 3.2 at CC to a believe a 3.4 CC and last semester a 4.0 Texas State San Marcos (not sure about what I made exactly in those middle semester… just an estimate ,but always trending upwards)

1.) is it difficult to get into UGS because of the freshman

2.) I’m taking calculus I right now. Will a
decision be made on my acceptance to UGS regardless of sending my final transcript . Or is it possible I may have to wait until I send my final transcript… so they can know for sure if they want to accept me or not because of the correlation with calculus and ME, as well as final gpa

3) is it worth switching my 2nd choice (ME) while my app is in review to better my chances of getting into UT?

4) if I’m not accepted to either of my major choices is it possible they will tell me that…I.e: “on the other hand you have been accepted to UT for the following majors/colleges”

Hope y’all understand what I’m asking in my questions, late night studying and really having to get into ut for certain reasons has been exhausting and nerve racking

Thank you everyone

@danield10c I am right there with you buddy. Still in review for ut Austin for PetE. I called Monday and yesterday and was told that as long as you have over 30 hours we should find out by the end of this week.

@‌ Jbarnes28
I honestly only had Bio 1, Chem 1, Bio Lab, Chem Lab, Statistics, English 1, and 4 Spanish classes when I applied. I also had one W. I had one LOR from a Professor who really liked me. My essays were pretty good too I believe. I had about 500+ community hours & I was involved in about 6 different organizations with 2 leadership positions. I hope that’s enough info.? Haha, good luck to all of you!

@RedEyeJedi‌

Is the “30 hours by the end of the week” just for Petroleum Engineering or do you think it’s also applicable to a Business major?

I was informed that it would be for engineering majors. @EtiquetteOfWar Call this number and just ask (512)-475-7474.

@Redeyejedi and @danield10c … i applied for PetE too … still nothing, i hope is us applying only ,so we can get in easily lol. btw did you all get into TAMU

@RedEyeJedi‌

Thanks, I’ll do that. Online it says that most applicants will hear back in mid to late May, so I’m somewhat surprised that specific majors will hear back sooner.

@uttx1994 They wanted to review my application after I turned in my spring transcripts even though I had over 80 hours (not including spring). Guess its because I am still finishing up my chem, calc, DE, and physics. Anyways I may not be able to get in because the deadline for these transcripts is June1st and my CC gets out June 6th

i didnt even get that letter they declined me, iam in the same situation , finishing my physics and chem, good look with ut
,it is a better school anyways.

UT Austin is also a better city and I believe it has a much better academic environment than TAMU which has a social culture that revolves around sports and Aggie Spirit which I heard could be dogmatic at times.

@Foafoa My second choice is COLA! Good luck with yours, don’t worry about a low GPA, you never know. :)

I’m so nervous now…

EDIT: I changed my major…I looked at Nutritional Sciences and their transfer guide didn’t have any specified classes that needed to be complete before being admitted except for the calc. So I changed it just to make sure. I don’t have all of those science courses for Public Health. Hopefully this gives a better chance because even though preference is given to those who have competed calc, they still accept people without it once there is space…

Thanks for posting that guide, I never found this information on UT’s Public Health website. :(

I’m so happy for everyone!! congratulations! I really hope I get accepted too, I’m so nervous. :frowning:

I feel so much better seeing that some COLA admissions are finally coming out! I’m still in review, but hopeful for a decision this week :D/

anyone one who applied Aerospace engineering hear back?

any mechanical engineer accepted?

Has anyone heard back from CNS? If so, what were your stats?

For any fellow Jackson School of Geoscience applicants, I just received my acceptance.

4.0 GPA

50+ hours completed

No LOR

Good luck to those still waiting!

Does anyone know if there is any way to see how UT Austin has calculated your transfer GPA. I honestly don’t know what I am even applying with because I have two community college transcripts, one of which is out of state. I contacted admissions and they told me it was hard to say, as they only calculate the GPA from units which are transferable to UT. As far as my California credits, I do not know which of those are accepted by UT and therefore have no idea how they are calculating this! I saw someone post and say that their gpa was X.X but UT had their GPA as X.X because they counted the credit differently. How do you see this?
