@Wombar What major? I’m waiting on COLA too (for Linguistics and Anthropology!)

Ooh! I’m waiting on Anthro too! My second choice is COLA Undeclared.

Cool! Maybe if we both get accepted we’ll have some classes together. I put Ling as my first choice and Anthro as my second, but I am planning to double major.

Awesome! I wish you luck!

Waiting on history, COLA. We need some COLA decisions up on this thread! haha

Good luck guys! Hope to see you COLA guys next year :D

@Wombar You too! I stalked your posts on here and saw that you applied for Spring 2014 and got denied. Have you bumped your GPA since then? I am really confused on my cumulative GPA. I have completed over 30 units in Texas with a 3.7 GPA, but I also have units from California (about 15) that I have no idea how they are calculated. The Admissions Office told me that they only count the grades that are transferable in the cumulative GPA. Some of those grades weren’t that awesome and some were A’s, so I’m worried about how it will be calculated and I have no idea what my GPA is! Kind of sweating that! I wrote three strong essays (the third of which discussed the circumstances over my lower GPA from my old school in California), am in PTK, Honors College, and did some volunteer work at a dig site (although not much). I also have worked about 50 hours a week while attending school full-time and pulling my 3.7 GPA. I’m hoping the discrepancy with my CA transcript is not going to tank my app! How did your last app look?

COLA COLA COLA!!! Ugh, this waiting is killing me!!!

Hopefully there will be another wave of decisions at 5:30 pm like yesterday! Congrats again to everyone who got in! Wooooo! :D

To the people that have called, has UT said anything about how big the transfer pool was?

Waiting on COLA too :-<
International Relations and Global Studies

@carissadean I’ve managed to pull my GPA up a little. I’ve been working so I can’t take that many hours. When I got denied it was a 3.34, now it is a 3.4. I’m a little worried due to it’s lowness, but… I have 2 good essays, a great LOR from my field school director, a ton of work exp. with leadership/management working for major clients. I’m still on an upward trend too; I’m about to ace this semester (although I know it won’t count for this application period).

Not sure what to tell you about your GPA situation but I’m sure it’ll work out! Maybe you can call tomorrow and talk to an admissions director- they should have your GPA calculated by now I’d imagine.

IF you know what you received in the classes then go to google, look up “UT GPA Calculator”, click on the UT registrar one and then input everything in that transfers. :)

@Saborak The biggest issue is that I have no idea what transfers since they are credits from out of state!

@Wombar Yeah, I already did and the admissions rep I spoke to said she could tell me much, but she did say, “In the chance that you do get denied, you would have a strong case for appeal. So I would wait and see what happens and then if you need to appeal we can go from there.” So that made me feel a little better. GPA is king!

@carissadean <a href=“Automated Transfer Equivalency System | Undergraduate Admissions | The University of Texas at Austin”>Automated Transfer Equivalency System | Undergraduate Admissions | The University of Texas at Austin; use this to see what transfer and doesn’t! if you click on the “Search by Sending Institution’s Course Designation” that will help you figure out what courses transfer to UT from your out of state college

@carissadean I’ve heard GPA doesn’t matter quite as much for COLA as it does in other departments- the essays carry a little more weight. I could be wrong.

When I called an admissions counselor after I applied this go-round, she asked me why I didn’t appeal when I got denied last spring. She said that I had a good chance of getting accepted that way. That’s why I feel at least a little more confident now. Still plenty anxious though!

So if I get a 3.48 and my essays are strong, I have LOR’s, honor society, and some EC’s I could still have a shot?

@Saborak I think you have an excellent shot, but I’m no expert, lol. I see from your past posts that you are applying for psychology which I’ve heard is highly competitive for COLA. I’ve also heard a 3.5 (which is basically what you have) is a shoe-in for COLA.

oh my god… it really is getting on my nerve… still nothing from civil engineering yet, I was so dumped to put petroleum engineering as the second choice…

Checked my status for the millionth time today. Still nothing. :((
Congrats to those who got accepted.
