Fall 2016 Transfer Thread / Chance Me!

@aimingforthesky @Brandon7CC seriously. I thought I managed to beef up my application pretty well over the course of my freshman year but you put me to shame, really great stats

@Sxsxjx That just isn’t true anymore. NU is actually more selective than BU now and its reputation is probably better outside of the Boston area, but that is only because people in Boston remember the days when NU was a commuter school.

BU and BC were commuter schools too until the 1970’s.

guys I’m gonna be at northeastern tomorrow because my sister is graduating from there. I’m so tempted to just go into the admissions office and ask what’s up

@nyuhopefulmaybe lol do it, but they’ll probably just say “soon” or “by June 15”. I’m guessing next Friday will be the next wave. I bet they do it on Fridays so they don’t have to answer annoying responses during the weekend.

@nyuhopefulmaybe ha that’d be something. they’d probably just roll their eyes though

@Totoro66 I understand that NEU is becoming more well-known and growing in prestige. However, yes NEU is growing in ranks but still significantly ranked lower than BU

BU is ranked #32 for global universities
NEU is ranked #204 for global universities

BU is ranked #41 in USA
NEU is ranked #47 in USA

NEU is only just recently beginning to REALLY pop up and to say that NEU is more prestigious than BU when within the last decade it was accepting more than half the applicants that applied and was a back up school to BU… Maybe your claim will be more accurate in the future.

Also I am not from Boston, and people here know BU and BC but have never heard or know very little about Northeastern

15 years ago BU was accepting 70% of applicants. 4 years ago BU accepted 46% of its applicants.

:x

That escalated quickly… Moral of the story: they’re both good schools and will provide a great education. They came from similar backgrounds and have taken a similar route, but have differences along the way (like Northeastern really focusing on US News ranking instead of the world ranks). They have differences in culture, co-op, and financial aid. As much as I like northeastern, the choice is very personal.

Northeastern’s ranking as 204 is for US News global
But yes, they are still top 50 undergrad in US for US News
Both are great and deciding between the two is quite difficult

who do you think has the better political science program, BU or NEU?

Probably depends on what you want to do with your degree.

still nothing?!

nothing

yup, nothing.

Yep, still waiting

Any idea when the next batch will come?

Someone in this thread mentioned that they had spoken to someone in admissions and was told that they were aiming to have all decisions out by May 15th. That, compounded with the fact that waves were separated by 2-3 weeks last year, makes me inclined to think we’ll be hearing back this Friday.

I very much believe this Friday will be the 2nd batch, followed by a final batch later on, I also applied to bc, northeastern said yes, and im waiting to hear back from bc this friday so im excited.
