Fall 2016 Transfer Thread / Chance Me!

Deposit is $200. Housing is $400.

@aimingforthesky We are lol My mother isn’t paying for my education at all. She insinuates as if she will pay however I know who she is and I will not be receiving a dollar from her. This is my reality. Just as you said, accept it and find your own way through it all. I definitely feel your situation and desire to make it into NEU!

You should definitely find out how to appeal your financial aid package so you don’t have to take out so many loans. I encourage you to call them on Monday and find out. I don’t mind helping you with your essay if that’s a part of the appeal process. Keep me posted. Syracuse U and smaller colleges gave me more aid than Boston U even state universities (grant & scholarship-wise). I wasn’t completely shocked but man I was disappointed because that was my 3rd choice. Lol yeah, I agree that even though they gave you more money that there’s still thousands to pay for. Most likely you will have to talk with someone from financial aid to appeal rather than the financial aid counselor who gave you the aid. That’s what my financial aid counselor said when I was there but again call and find out because they obviously know best. Also, send an email as well. I couldn’t find the financial aid appeal form on the NEU financial aid website for you but I will look again. I got work study too! Yeah, that’s always ideal  hey were either of your parents in the military?

I know this may sound funny but I never used the calculator before for any colleges lol I just submitted, lobbied, and prayed. Hopefully, someone else can answer that for you.

@Saw777 I sent you a response message! Thank you again for your help. I’m kind of lost when it comes to loans and payment plans and interest, so going through this is crazy! But it’s gotta be done. A good education is very high on my list of priorities, and I believe NEU offers great programs for all of us.

No, my parents were not in the military. And according to the calculator I would be left paying ~$11,000 with $7,000 in loans lol
I’m determined though so I’ll make this work

is there a Facebook group for all of us to connect?

Does anyone have an estimate of when the next wave of acceptance/rejection letters would potentially be coming out? I know a lot of you just got accepted (congratulations!), and the timing was similar to some transfers last year.

did you not hear anything yet? @anasolorzano42

I’d guess another 2-3 weeks. Probably after our deposit deadline maybe, which is June 3.

Having difficulties deciding between NEU and USC …

Still haven’t heard, so frustrated. Got into Tulane two months ago, and each second longer I wait for NEU the worse my class and housing options get at Tulane. I applied in January, not sure I can wait two more weeks…

no nothing… its driving me insane! @bostonbabexo3

So apparently there is an Admitted Transfer Day on May 26. I’d think that would mean everybody would hear back by then, unless they have two such days.
Just a guess though… Going by that theory maybe the third wave will be this weekend/next Monday?

It is honestly ridiculous that I haven’t gotten a decision yet

@bluea4251 when did you send your stuff in?

Northeastern may be waiting to see how many students from the previous wave of decisions accept the offer. If not enough do, then there will be a third wave of offers.

I was looking through the admitted student guide, and it mentions submitting syllabi online. I don’t see a place to do this. Does anyone else?

@JavaCoco in your application status check, there is a document tab, courses that have not automatically been transferred will be displayed their. you must enter a course description plus the syllabus then they will determine if the class is transfarable and it will show in your aduit on my neu

Don’t have anything about courses in that tab, will give it a week or two. Thanks!

I will be declining my offer of admission and attending USC instead. Good luck to everyone who hasn’t heard back yet! You guys will all probably hear back before June… hopefully!

@aimingforthesky I don’t mind helping you  there’s a long informational process on taking out federal loans on studentloans.gov. It’s a pretty good way to understand the loan process and its mandatory before you can take out a loan anyway. Yeah it does have to be done unfortunately. Same, I wanted to go to NEU because it offered something I felt that no school in Florida could provide for my major.

I was asking because NEU has scholarships for military dependents and veterans as well. Pretty good ones! Okay, I do remember the financial advisor calculating that in front one me. Mines was $10,000 out of pocket.

I believe in you, make it happen

@Sxsxjx Goodluck on your college career!

Hopefully, everyone hears back soon but if not in the coming weeks then most likely June. @TomSrOfBoston isn’t far from it. I believe that is what may be going on here.
