Thanks for the response. I’m actually probably financially okay - even with the markets lately, I’ve been saving extra in my IRAs for years and have more than enough to pay for a couple of years at a UC if needed while still meeting my goals - but I’m still curious. Plus, any money I don’t have to spend just puts me further ahead on retirement.
My current job wants to keep me on part-time wherever I go, including letting me work remotely. That would almost certainly pay better than any program the school could offer (I’m north of $50 an hour equivalent right now). But my goal is to have zero loans once I’m done. I know my salary right now precludes me from any “needs-based” stuff, but I have no idea what if any merit-based options they might toss my way.
(I’ve also got a few minority classifications I can leverage for scholarships once I make a decision - gay, ADHD, older, etc. - but many of those obviously have to wait a bit.)
Anyway, thanks again. And, congrats on graduating (if a year late)!
@gonewiththeair thank you for your reply, I was starting to think it had got lost in the mail! My welcome packet arrived today too (San Diego) got in 03/20.
I just realize I applied to UCI as CSE and not CS by accident. This is most likely I have not heard back yet. I submitted a change of major, should I also email them about this mistake? I do not have all the requirements for CSE but I have all the reqs for CS
@Twenmi yeah call them ASAP tomorrow and explain your situation to them. That’s super weird if you tagged to the right major but applied under something else lol I’ve never heard of that happening. I think it very well might be too late at this point to change anything considering they have already released some decisions but I would still call them
Hey guys! Sorry for the late arrival but can someone chance me?
