FALL 2018 UCI Irvine Official Transfer Thread

How does the university know if you tag or not? I tagged for CS and have all the TAG requirements but I don’t see anywhere where it states I tagged. I also was able to log in using last years portal instead of a new one.

@ucitransferpls They should have received the TAG form we filled out back in September and it’s in our admissions file. I don’t see anywhere on my application portal indicating that I submitted a TAG to UCI either so I’m guessing they don’t post that on the admission site.

@ucitransferpls actually, your tag status is posted on your TAP account (where you applied for tag). I heard some got TAG acceptances a month or so ago, for other like me, it just states the TAG requirements and that the submission went through (assuming they are going to accept it based on the upcoming GPAs of last semester and spring).

@gonewiththeair Your TAG admission is posted on your TAP account:)

good news! UCI got back to me a week after New Years (:

I think it does depend when you submit it because I submitted mine a little after thanksgiving too hehe… overall really glad UCI got back to me! All the schools I applied to officially got back to me.

Wishing everyone all the best of luck! we got this!

@pharmdream so if you received the posted message on TAP, is it safe to assume UCI will most likely accept your TAG?

Relax people. You will not know your admission status, Tag or not, until April for transfer students. I am currently spending my winter vacation in Irvine with some friends. UCI is just like Hogwarts. UC Hogwarts!

@pharmdream yes, that was a response to @ucitransferpls who asked whether it was on the UCI application portal- it isn’t. but yes, thank you for pointing out it’s on TAP!

@matchamilktea I’m assuming as long as you maintain the requirements, yes.

Does anyone know what happens to your admission status if you get accepted through TAG, but your spring grades do NOT add up to 3.4?
Do they rescind your admission completely or will they view your application through the non-tag route? Wouldn’t it be too late by then?

Hey y’all. You can tell from my profile pic that im pretty competitive. Here is my status:
Major: Data science
UC GPA: after fall, 3.29 to 3.83(i know im a genius)
EC: part-time at Denny’s and some volunteering in college.
IGETC: i will be done by spring.
prereq: same
Ps: decent but i mentioned my major was cognitive science because im aiming for UCSD.

Also…I hope none of you get in. Ciao Kisses :x

Hi guys! Anyone think they can chance me??

Major: Economics
GPA: 3.5
EC: Full-time working in a law firm for the past 2 years, volunteering at a soup kitchen, and a pet shelter.
IGETC: Completed by spring
Pre-reqs: Completed by spring
TAG: UCSB
Applied: UCI, UCSB, UCLA, UCSC

The only classes I need are Calc 1 (which I am taking right now) and Calc 2 in the spring.

Let’s keep the forum alive. It’s now February.

Last year, UCI sent out TAG decisions starting March 15th. Approximately about 1 to 2 months and we TAG applicants should receive an answer.

I cannot wait. I am too excited, but also anxious!

I did, however, receive an email from University Of California today requesting my response to their question regarding where I completed 9th grade and what language was the instruction taught in.

Again my stats are:

Major: Psychology And Social Behavior (78% Admit Rate)
Major Pre-Req: I don’t think there are any specific PRE-REQ for this Major.

(Assist.org + UCI Website Indicates I do Not Need To Complete Major Courses To Transfer Or TAG) [Just need a 3.0 GPA / 3.4 for TAG]

UC Transferable GPA: 3.82
TAG: YES
IGETC: NO

According to https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major
Irvine admitted about 78% of the transfer applicants IN THIS MAJOR in Fall 2016.

I’m also currently taking only 6 units of classes. What do you guys think?

@Kelvin105 I think you’re a strong applicant. Do you have any ECs?

@pharmdream I work 18 hours a week at a retail job. I also volunteer at a non-profit organization that serves the inner city neighborhood.

Does anyone know approximately when admission results will be released?

Last year UCI released TAG admissions starting March 12th, although UCI screw up their freshmen applicants last year. However, traditionally it gets released April 12th. TAG applicants get notify first. I’m hoping to see decisions by March, but won’t be surprised if I have to wait until April.

Yeah I think usually UC Irvine releases TAG decisions mid-March, with all others in mid to late April. @Kobbayy @Kelvin105. It’s what they’ve done in the past so I’m guessing that trend will continue this year.

Did anyone else get an emil today about financial aid? I got one and it said to login into my portal and check my status but when I logged in it basically just said that they had received my fafsa and all supporting documents on time. I’m not sure if they sent this to everyone but hopefully it’s a sign that I’m still being considered?
Btw, I applied for TAG (still not sure if it’ll go through or not) and I submitted my fafsa months ago(even before my UC application I think).
