Fall of 2016 Applicants

@gettingschooled I’m still rooting for me too lol. But no, didn’t find out. On Twitter they confirmed that a small batch of liver arts and nursing went out, and that was it for this wave. Crossing fingers for neuroscience

i don’t see anything on twitter about nursing, only liberal arts?

We haven’t seen anything on Twitter or facebook or status change for nursing.

@wardroger000 Do you know when those went out? Nothing on Twitter or the 2016 facebook group of others being accepted.

Regarding nursing acceptances do you know when those went out @wardroger000

I mis-typed, no mention of nursing on Twitter. The only information I know of is that my roommate received an email from the school. The e-mail stated:

Dear -------------

Congratulations! Among more than 2,000 freshman applicants for the class of 2020 to the school of nursing, you are one of the ~130 students admitted. To celebrate your accomplishment, we - students, faculty, and staff - at the School of Nursing would like to invite you and your guests to our Best of Nursing on Saturday, February 20th, 2016.

The last paragraph is mainly just details about contact information.

What I inferred from the email is that they have mostly finished Nursing decisions, since they have sent out invitations to a reception event. Again, this is from my roommate, and it may not apply to everyone in this situation. Sorry for the small confusion with my last post, I know a lot of y’all are stressed and sorry for making y’all, well, freak out! But I was just trying to pass along some information I came across.

Good evening and Hook 'Em!

@RNgrad1990 around Mid-January, I’m not for sure I don’t want to press my friend with questions.

What is Cockerell exactly doing? Application under review for days

Lot’s of folks still waiting “in review” for Cockrell. My son since Oct. 12. A friend of his and a cousin of his who are auto admits (my son was not auto) are still waiting on engineering also. Both were August applicants. 8-}

In review for UT is different than in engineering review for TAMU.

We’ve resolved ourselves that being an auto admit ends up making you wait longer for your major no matter when you applied. Our DD applied with her last test score received by them on 10/12, and she hasn’t heard anything. She is waiting for CNS biochem. Her status just says Complete, On Time and congratulations on your auto admit to UT Austin. Then the blurb about how they are not sure of her major yet. She was quickly accepted into the other schools, but UT has her waiting and waiting. Seems there is not a high importance placed on in-state auto admits no matter how hard they worked to be in that group. It’s a learning lesson for us, and we will have another applying next year. The hurry up and apply doesn’t seem to have made any difference.

Hi all!

I’ve been watching this board for awhile, but thought I’d add my DD’s status. She’s an auto admit, application was submitted mid to late November. Accepted to CNS for Biology in the December wave. Still waiting on Plan 2/Honors decisions.

It looks like there’s no rhyme or reason to major decision timing. Her BF is an auto admit with first choice COLA Psychology major, (probably submitted earlier than my DD), but still no decision.

The waiting game is not unique to the in-state applicants. My son is waiting to hear back from McCombs School of Business and the Business Honors Program (BHP). Applied in mid-November. 35 ACT, 4.9 weighted GPA, Nat’l Merit Semifinalist. As several of you have indicated, the waiting is excruciating.

I know it’s hard to wait. Just accept that most decisions are released in late February. People who hear earlier are exceptions.

I was accepted way back in December into Cockrell. I am also OOS. Is there any reason I heard then rather than now or in February? I applied like the 23rd of November I believe.

Each application receives holistic review, which takes lots of time. UT is not like other schools. Think of The University of Texas at Austin as an elite public university. All decisions will be released by March 1, which is still earlier than most Ivy league schools.

@jarededberg prolly your stats are standing out

@jasonhzu They are not exceptional. Not like @Ljtjrose 's son. I put them below if you were curious. I guess it had to be my extracurriculars or racquetball lol. My essays I have to say were exceptional imo. I wrote all 3 and spent months on them until they were polished.

When did you apply? November 23
When did you receive your admission decision? December 17
Auto-admit? Academic Admit? Review? Review
Major/College of Choice? Did you get in? Cockrell (Civil)
Honors Program? No

so based on what you guys just said about holistic review, do you still think there are other nursing admits that just haven’t yet been notified…despite the little meetup they’re hosting in february?

I think we would be guessing about the nursing thing. We don’t know what “Best of Nursing” is. Is it for all 130 freshman or is it just for a select group (potential honors program or URM or who knows what)? If we knew what it was, that would help with the guessing. We won’t know anything for sure until March 1 unfortunately.

@ljtjrose hang in there! I know the waiting is tough. As a go-by, my DD had similar stats and heard February 19th. The waiting was so frustrating I actually cried when her acceptance came out. It’s so stressful! The year before that another girl also heard at about the same time. Has he had his BHP interview yet?
