only $2000 or so? and no grant? is there more to come later, cuz all I got was federal loans and work study with my honors program acceptance (im not NOT rich)

Someone else I know had a similar situation, anyone know what’s going on?

ok that double negative is for emphasis, not intended to be a double negative!

Well lets just say that Dartmouth gave me 2X that of BC and Williams gave me 1.5X so its a very low figure according to what I've recieved lately. On my thing they included loans and grants and work study.

i didnt get any grant? I wonder why.

Yea all I got was $6000 in federal loans and work study. And apparently they raised their price and now it is a total of $47,000! So I guess I can't go to my dream school even though I was accepted!

Let me just say that college tuition has become ridiculously ... well, ridiculous and unaffordable for most people. $46,000 this year?! WHAT!!!! THe problem is that tuition has steadly gone up and salaries have not! the only people that can actually afford to go to a place like BC are the ones on the poorer end (who receive a lot of need based money) and the ones on the richer end (who can pay the full goddamn tuition) while the middle class works their ass off and does not recieve a dime (well, that or only a little bit).

It just makes no sense at all. what is wrong with the united states?

BC is crazy with their financial aid.

My friend got in EA and all he got was loans despite being one of the best all-around students I know.

It's difficult to figure out who is actually getting any money from them but oh well I guess they have a master plan.

i didnt get a financial aid package yet. they sent me another form to fill out and fax to them. i wonder how long it will take to send me my aid package.

that happened to me during EA and it took them about two weeks to send out my aid package. Granted this is RD, so it is likely that it will take a little longer as they have many more people to deal with.

My award was just the subsidized federal and work study as well. As for the well roundness of the student, its inconsequential. BC's financial aid and admissions are seperate and the financial aid officers (theoritically) dont see the applicants merits.

the $46,000 is including all the fees and room and board.

So are you guys all going to go to Boston College still? My parents don't think it is worth it especially because I am also going to go to medical school which is also extremely expensive! So I think I am either going to Providence College or Pacific Lutheran in Washington. I love Boston College though and I was so excited when I got in EA! But I am still coming to visit in 2 weeks (I live out in Oregon) but most likely I won't get to go there!

ahh, same here pinkflamango, i'm thinking of med school as well. i may opt for a state school when I go to med school because of all these expenses!
