ok, i haven't gone through the various threads about the online decisions, but i just want to like see what the final consensus seems to be among the ppl here.

is the decision coming on the 15th's evening, like how SAT scores come out the night before the supposed date of release? Or are most people expecting the decision on the 16th?

I know this is a dumb question but could the time difference be anything to do with the applicants who are in time zones ahead of ours who are already on the 16th when we're on the 15th. Probably not but just thought I run the idea

That's entirely possible, andi. Although they do mention that its Eastern time, I can understand how it would be confusing and might just be easier to say the 16th.

yeah, if it says est then that's what it means. Maybe they just cut themselves some slack by allowing a little extra time and then posting them earlier if they're ready... I don't like the thought of thinking they'll be ready on the 15th and then having to wait a long 24 extra hours...

ps I hope you feel better soon. When you're up and about take it easy for awhile or you'll get sick all over again...speaking from a long ago experience

Thanks very much! I think that's why this lasted so long.

After a month, I felt pretty good and started school in September with everyone else. However, I went to the doctor for something totally unrelated 2 months later and found out that it hadn't gone away and had caused potentially major problems that I didn't even know about.

I don't know why the ivies would notify on different dates... I just hope that my friends applying to Penn, Brown, and Columbia all get in, which I will (somewhat foolishly) interpret as a general admiration for my High School.

the whole deadline dates, notification dates, application rates thing is a giant ***** competition in ivy-land, honestly. The more prestigious your school is, the earlier its deadlines are, allegedly. Hence, Hahvad's Oct. 15 'Preferred' deadline, because God forbid they realize that they're just not as good. ;)

lindseyludh, :( sorry to hear that. No one realizes how rotten mono is until he has it. Good thing you happened to go to the doctors when you did. I can imagine that being sick and in the house wouldn't help this whole waiting thing!!

Mono sucks so much! I had it in fifth grade, and I was MIA for almost 2 months. Then, when I came back to school, I had to go home during lunch to nap because I was so tired all the time. Buen Suerte amiga.

If it's any help...last year Regular Decision was at 5 PM Eastern. The sites were bombarded so it took a while to get in. If you had the good fortune to live it Connecticut and got your mail early you knew before 5.
Good luck to all of you

Yeah mono is really bad. I got it at the end of spring last year and I was dead for all the summer and I'm just starting now to feel like I felt last year before I got it. It's a LONG recovery period.

Yale was one of the first Ivies to post decisions online and the first year that they did it, their server crashed from all the activity. As a result, two years ago they actually posted the online decisions a day before the date that they had announced in order to make sure the server didn't crash again. Last year they felt they had the server issue resolved but still posted a day earlier than announced, taking no chances. The activity on the 15th really kicked in when all the CCers started spreading the word that decisions were out.
