I find it rather amusing how no one knew about this stuff. If you looked at the application deadline, it clearly states that you have to turn this stuff in Jan. 1st. But then again, I didn't know til like 4 days prior to the deadline.

Lucky break for all of us, the deadline is extended :)

Good luck everyone.

Our local post office has a lobby area which is open at all times. The PO Boxes are in this lobby area...and a self service shipping machine is there as well...kinda like an atm, but for mailing letters and packages. It has a touch screen and digital scale and you can do everything from mailing big packages to mailing regular letters to mailing express and overnight mail. After you go through the menu, it prints a dated shipping label. You can attach it to the letter or package and put it in the mail drop which is located in the same lobby area. The mail drop has slots for letters and a big drawer for packages.

I forgot to send something with my D's fa application, so I printed a 'click and ship' label online instead of going to the PO....but I had to estimate the weight. To be safe, I estimated 1 lb which was about $4.00 for the label. If I had gone to the PO, the machine would have determined the exact weight of the envelope and the exact postage, which should have been under a dollar. (Unfortunately, I'm couldn't go to the PO....migraine today...probably from spending so much time on the computer...ha!)

I'm not sure if these machines are in every PO lobby...ours is just a branch, not a main PO location. hth.

Wish we had those in Windsor Canada... :(

I think what you are seeing a disconnect due to online application procedures. If you applied with the common app online, Cornell application supplements are available at the site. But the supplements for FA are not. If you applied with paper, the FA supplement is bundled with the other supplements and hard to miss.

Additionally, most other colleges require their FA applications at the same time they require the CSS and FAFSA which is Feb 1 at the earliest. And they don't require 2004 tax info. So it is easy to see why so many people missed the Cornell deadline.

ldmom06,

I did not mean to be hostile in any way. I see your point though.

I used the common application also, but I knew all schools were strict about financial aid deadlines, so I printed out a calendar for each school. I guess that's why I knew ahead of time. I remember thinking, "why does Cornell want this stuff so early in comparison to all my other schools?"

Anyway, all is good now.

True robotfood...it was wise to print out a calendar, if even only 4 days in advance. And I didn't take it as hostile on your part....but I'm sure all your cohorts need all the support they can get. And perhaps finding amusement in their troubles is not helpful.

Btw...as I've mentioned before, I don't think it is safe to assume the FA application deadline has been extended along with the RD admissions application. Probably has, but if schools are strict about the deadlines, better to play it safe.

You're right. I'm sorry for my rather unkind comment. I do honestly wish everyone the best of luck. And hopefully we'll even see each other next year at New York.

And yes, I highly suggest obtaining calendars for the respective schools. It's hard enough to remember what's happening on a day to day basis without one.

Once again, good luck all.
