everyone here...i hope u realize that guys on this forum are as clueless as anyone else...we can just give opinions
Please verify with Admission Officers because only they knoiw REALLY whats the truth

I posted a quote (with a link) directly from Cornell's Undergraduate Admissions website clearly stating that the deadline was pushed back to January 7th. Now whether that actually affects the financial aid deadline is yet to be confirmed (as you said, by a more knowledgable person)... but the fact remains that the undergraduate application deadline was indeed pushed back.

(This post was just to say that the deadline being extended to January 7th was not an "opinion")

I'd assume so.. thank God! cuz... i didn't turn my fin aid in yet!

I wonder what would have happened if Jvhowube didn't make this thread.

There would have been several disappointed bodies sitting sadly in our ickle chairs after we hear from Cornell offices "BCH YOU DIDN'T TURN IN FINAID! REJECT!"

Jaykay. I think we would've been alerted by Cornell at least, that we didn't submit it. We would be extremely panicked, late in turning it in, and hence, probably get a smaller finaid package.

Or we would've found out on the website a couple days late and the Cornell office would be flooded with late FinAid apps with apology letters attached to them.

So kisses to Jvhowube for making the thread.

My goodness...to think i was going to log off w/o seeing this.......

I guess i'll ask the same question as everyone else....is the financial package extended as well?

Thank You!!
YES!

I almost killed myself yesterday when i found out that i didnt send the financial aid. Now since the deadline as been extended i can send it on Monday or Today. Guess i wont be able to sucicide yet :D that wil have to wait till i get rejected ot waitlisted :)

^^^ But does the deadline include the financial aid form? That wasn't specified.

i told you guys, PM me for my address if you'd like to send gifts or donations!!! ;)

I'm in the same boat with you guys, I had no idea it was due today.. never mind the post office isn't open... blah! I guess I'm sending it in Jan. 2? I bet they'll have alot of confusion about this..

deadline is 7th now pinkdillo...

What makes you so sure though? A definite answer still hasn't been given as to whether the financial aid deadline was actually pushed back as well...

I'm sure if its postmarked the 2nd it won't be a problem...they aren't going to be like "2nd? DUN REJECTED" and that would be like every1 on this thread...already a lot. RELAX...everything is fine.

Don't confuse Financial aid with admissions.

You won't be denied admission for filing your FA form late, but you may be denied Financial Aid.

hopefully the extension applies to the FA form too.

Please remember that Cornell is need blind and the application for admission and the application for financial aid are going to two separate locations for review by two independent committees blind to the other's activities. It is not safe to infer that because the admissions office extended their deadline, the financial aid office has done so as well.

My personal hunch is that submitting the fa forms next week will be fine, but that is just a hunch. Worth nothing.

Uhoh. ... I just realized that I think I sent my financial aid package to the same place, along with my supplementary material. OOPS. Should I call them on Monday about that? >_< OMG I can't believe I forgot the FinAid office is often different from the admissions office. AHHHHH

If you want to send second copies, you can do the click-n-ship thing online to get a label with today's date.

But, it also occurred to me that the Post Office lobby kiosks are open on weekends and holidays. The self-serve machine should allow you to weigh your envelope and print a label with today's date as well. And you can drop the envelope in the bin while you are there. Our kiosk is always open and well stocked with supplies (if needed). Can't believe I didn't think of it before.

Just FYI everyone, tomorrow is a government holiday, so the post offices are closed tomorrow as well.

Post office? Lobby kiosks? Whassat?

@Magriep: Ahhhh you're right! I didn't notice... If the financial aid deadlines weren't actually pushed back with the entire freshman application, then a lot of us are going to be very late with the stuff...
