financial aid office emailed me?

ahh you guys are making me so unsure (: haha we’ll see soon enough!!!

I think I’m going to stay up late and call FAO tonight…
And I don’t think the missing css/profile means anything about me not getting fa but admitted…! Columbia states that they don’t expect tuition or room and board or other fees from students with family income below 60000 a year! Internationals too!
Let’s stop assuming, it’s exciting and everything but I really think it’s just the computer system automatically filing the emails to whoever’s missing anything.
Dang, pessimistic again.

How many ppl do you think are applying to Columbia from China for ED this year?

Jee…I don’t really know, but a lot I guess. I’m the only one in my school, so if that’s 1 per school, and there’s 800,000 high schools…huh, I don’t want to think about it.

Most of my friends that are applying to the US haven’t much interest in Columbia…which is weird, cause I’m REALLY interested in Columbia…they say something about it not giving aid, which doesn’t make sense, see my last post. They’re more interested in stuff like NYU, MIT… Only one person besides me in my school is applying to Columbia, but RD. I bet there’s a mob from RDFZ tho…and all the International schools…omg I just realized how BIG the study-overseas-and-get-away-from-college-entrance-exams crew is…

@Katy3028

my interviewer said that Columbia can fill a whole class with Chinese applicants without reducing the quality… competition must be very intense…

Competition is ok actually, if you just mind your own grades, cause exams are easier this year. But if you want a great ranking…you’ll have to be a non-human, as we call it. At least in the competitive schools.
To conclude, the majority of people in China who decide to go overseas is either 1)very rich 2)very rich and has very bad grades or 3)very smart
I don’t think I belong to any of those…haha. But then, I’m an International student here too…god.

Did everyone who got the e-mail get the letter as well?

I got a letter today in the mail, but it was dated 11/30/09. It was an exact copy of the email they sent.

I don’t think the e-mail/ letter denotes acceptance, as it seems pretty generic. too bad though. haha

I’m starting to think so as well - at first I was all excited, but I think that is just me rationalizing a very confusing and anxiety ridden situation. The letter wasn’t even one of the legit ones that Columbia usually sends, with the slightly manila-colored page and official looking colored letterheads. It was just copy paper. Black and white copy paper.

let’s let this thread die
no one post after me :D
