Financial Aid Package

I still haven't received my financial aid package. Have other people? Also does anybody know when they send them?

My D received hers shortly after decisions came out.

Got one in the mail in Texas on thursday of last week. Contact them ASAP to let them know you haven’t received yours so you’ll have plenty of time to examine it if they need to re-send it to you.

Can anyone explain what they mean by non-federal work study? thanks

Yea, unlike all the entitlement freebies, you gotta pay it back! That simple. Starting 9 mos. post-graduate.

btw, any and everyone waiting for FA info, pick up the phone and call them. They are extremely helpful and open. But no need to sit there in the dark. That’s what FA counselors are paid for. Keep 'em working!

Still not sure I am understanding you correctly…non-federal work study requires you to pay back the amount…does the student not WORK for the money? I am confused?

My bad, sorry. I was thinking “loan.” All this means is that they’ll give you a campus job that is paid for by DU. MANY kids at Denison have campus jobs … RAs, desk work, dept assts., monitors at the gym for weight room, tutors, IT helpmates, library workers, etc etc. They are usually good ways to supplement your financial situation. BUT … I think you’ll have to ferret out your own employment.

Ok. Thanks for your help!

The pay for federal work study is partially subsidized by the federal gov’t and nonfederal work study means no subsidy. Whoever is hiring for a job might take a federal work study student over a nonfederal work study student, because it would “cost less”. All work study students have to apply for and find their own on campus jobs.
