Financial Aid

I received $10000/yr in UW-Financial Aid (excluding the Pell Grants). Is this normal coz I heard many people say that UW-Madison hardly grants aid to OOS students…Thanks

What’s this consist of? Subsidized loan and $6k UW grant?

Nope…this is the list…

Federal Work-Study ProgramWork/Study 2,500.00
UW-Madison Grant 3,000.00
UW-Madison Non-Resident Grant 6,000.00
Federal Perkins Loan 2,600.00
Direct Unsubsidized Fed Loan 2,000.00
Direct Subsidized Fed Loan 3,500.00
Academic Year Total 19,600.00

The funny thing is I wasn’t awarded any Pell Grant

What is your EFC?

The NPC for a nonresident with EFC 0 shows this, for example:

Pell $5815
Federal SEOG $800
Bucky Grant $1000
Madison Initiative $1000
Nonresident Grant $6000

Remaining amount to be paid wirh loans, work study, cash is $34k.

@Madison85 : my EFC is around $8000/year.

Your EFC is too high for a Pell grant.

You were awarded exactly what the net price calculator shows, so it’s no surprise.

@Madison85 : But Purdue awarded me around $2000/yr pell grant…

@Madison85 : ohhkk… Apparently some of the posters here tried to scare me b4 by trying to say I have to pay the full $50000/yr…and that UW-Madison dont award any financial aid…

Regardless, can your family afford the remaining $28k which is after all grants, loans, work study?

Did you apply to any financial safeties?
