first-quarter grades

Maybe you're right, Silverzc, I sent an email to my GC to see what she thinks about it.

Shifu: I'm not sure, CoE is the only one I've heard of so far. If I could erase my freshman grades and add my senior grades, I'd be psyched!

I'm trusting my school on this one. Grades are probably just fine to send in for them to peruse. When they say they don't want additional materials, they are probably speaking of photo albums, metals, awards, a collage you made in 4th grade...

I applied ED to CAS... should I send one in? It is probably the best transcript I've had by far.

Even if your scores are stellar, I wouldn't send anything... unless they ask for it.

My marks didn't decrease by much (only about 2% for two of my courses), and overall my average shot up by a lot. I wouldn't send anything though.

bestwhit: My GC is going to send my first quarter grades by fax on Monday!

I'd say they could only help me since my grades in my AP classes were really good. It would show Cornell that I've been trying senior year and succeeding in a tough courseload, so I don't see why it would detract from your application. I wouldn't think a university would be annoyed that an applicant sent first-quarter grades, I mean they're grades not, like bestwhit said, a collage you made from 4th grade. Grades are important.
23 days guys????!!!!

Hooray, ChandlerBing! Yeah if a senior is proud enough of their first-quarter grades enough to send them to their ED school, it can only help them in the process.

Wow, 23 days. Wow.

Haha, I'm proud of myself. Well, not really, but whatever. Yeah, my second-quarter grades are probably going to be like... garbage, but at least I didn't totally succumb to senioritis first quarter :)

I can't wait that long... are there, like, doctor-approved college-mania coping mechanisms? Haha

do you guys think that they only ask for the first quarter grades for the students they are considering giving acceptances to? BTW i applied for CALS ED and they requested my grades back on Friday the 14th

I don't think it's necessarily a good or a bad thing if they request grades, just that they want to see what you've earned this year for some reason or another.

That's odd. Then I think they ask first quarter grades for students who showed uncertainties in their freshman or their sophomore or their junior year grades, but I wouldn't read into it. They could just be asking those who have been reviewed already to make final decisions or something.

has anyone applying to ilr gotten a request yet?

I got the same email.
What happens if your school does trimesters? (we only get grades 3x a year)
Our first trimester didn't even end yet and teachers submit grades around the beginning of december and it gets mailed out probably mid-December.
Do I still have to tell my guidance counselor to directly send it to Cornell asap? By mid-December, Cornell admissions most likely already made the decision so I dont know if its pointless or not..

which school did u apply to college2013?

lets start a list of people who have had to turn in their grades in the following format
name-college

tboonepickens-CoE

tboonepickens-CoE
bigj11-CALS

ari102791-CoE

I can't believe they asked for grades this year. I'm now wondering how much a C in AP English for 1st quarter bring me down(4 APs: 1A-, 2B+,1C)?

I'm nearly positive it's not a practice new to this year. It sounds like pretty standard procedure from what I've heard.

hmm... i haven't been asked for senior 1st quarter grades........ what's going on thesedays >_<
