Continuing to do my thing. Yesterday was a big exercise day. I played 2 hours of pickleball and then did a 26ish mile bike ride.
Today we tried a new bike path not too far from home.
I’m bummed bc when it’s not summer and it’s too windy or wet to play pickleball outside, I could play inside for $75 a year county membership. I just found out that in the summer they have camp at the community centers. Glad the kids have someplace ot go, but what about us retired people :)?
This spring and summer has been wild, no? So cool! But also rainy. I can’t believe we haven’t hit 90 yet. We can be 90 in February! Definitely by March-April.
So today was the first time I’ve run since 5/29. Between bad weather and wedding/vacation trip, just did not get out (not even on Cape Cod, where I usually like to get a “sea level” time improvement). The early morn 60 degree weather was lovely. My running time not so lovely, but that’s OK. I got back on the trail !
I’m kind of bummed bc my Apple Watch has stopped tracking my move streak. I do admit though, that when I noticed it it felt a little freeing. My phone seems to know to keep going. Weird, since I assume it gets the fitness data from the watch. I found several several posts about the issue in different forums, but none that actually had a fix for the problem.I didn’t look very hard though.
For Father’s Day we bought dh a portable pickleball net so we could play in the driveway. Tonight was the first time. We had fun hitting it around for more than 45 minutes. Painless way to close my ring!
I could have posted this in the book thread. Or the gardening thread. or the walk/run thread. But I thought this crowd (many who are in those threads too) would get a smile out of it.
I abandoned my running plans this morn due to temp (only 70, but VERY sunny on my trail and I’m getting back in the groove after wedding/travel break) and schedule. Showered before farmer’s market so didn’t feel like messing with soil or mulch (though did some light work trimming). Did a short walk at 5pm.
Because some days are for relaxation/reading and enjoying the yard. The current book coincidence was just a bonus
After pursuing recommendations (mail order) a few years ago from a nutritionalist, I opted for the cheaper/easier way. I do Centrum Siver Women’s (or walgreens equivalent) in morning. Then extra calcium/D tablet in evening.
I do pretty close food tracking, mainly for nutritional reasons. Often I am near of above target on most vitamins from foods, the preferred method. So one could make the argument that I should just do the calcium/D (where I am under RDA).
Whatever is on sale at Costco.
I’m not great at taking them, and I tend to buy gummies because I’m more likely to chew them.
I should take calcium and vitamin D, but I don’t remember them often.
I don’t take a multi vitamin but do take calcium and vitamin D Everyday and I find I’m more likely to take it if I use a small pill box and keep it right in the bathroom next to my skin care items I use daily.

First, I try to eat a balanced diet (nuts, seeds, fruit, veges, protein, healthy fat, nutrient dense carbs, grains, etc., which contains as many vitamins as I can possibly think of and consume.
And then I use One-A-Day 50+ to fill in the gaps, if there are any.
Addicted to pickleball here, too. I’ve got my H playing, too, so between my friends, my coworkers and him, I’ve always got someone to play with.
I’ve also been playing tennis once or twice a week for the last several months.
Yesterday H and I took a long (for us) bike ride - 17 miles rt down along the shore. My quads were feeling it last night.
I’ve also continued my 10k steps per day streak. This summer is (happily) so different than last year, when I was sidelined with PF and covid for so much of it. I used to take for granted that my body would just do whatever I asked of it - I no longer do so. I’m also just proud that I’m more active and fit at 50+ than I ever was as a younger woman.
and PS, for those who remember me mentioning the shorts from 1991…they now fit!
