Fitness, Nutrition and Health- All Welcome (Hardcore and “Light”)

Now on Central Oregon. We did the fun 4 mile walk thst includes a big chunk along the river yesterday.

Most of our exercise this week will be on the golf course.

Update here. H had his wake forest doctor visit yesterday. Definitely preferred that doctor. So much more informative and also very nice. He explained why they thought it was CLL and not something else but wanted to repeat the flow test since the first one had the term “suggestive of” in the conclusion. Got the results back today and it said “consistent with.” But the better news was that the WBC dropped 10K. Still elevated at 21, but more in line with the original growth over the last 3 years (of which his PCP said nothing… we only knew because we asked to get copies of the records. Nothing is online there. You can’t even pay a bill online) so that spike (over 2 tests a month apart) was likely due to prednisone/arthritis pain and inflammation.

So now we just monitor the blood every 3 months. We will be transferring to the main office now. Yesterday we were in a satellite office that is 1:45 away. The main one is 1:15. Much better. But the first appointment they had for new patients wasn’t until 12/29!

Follow-up with the ortho is on Thursday. And now he gets to make an appointment for the colonoscopy. lol.

I started phase 2 of my workout. Today was chest and back. It’s still fun. And I might repeat the program again. Or I might try something new in between, but I dunno. I’m really liking this one.

Just checking in. Sort of a “same same same” with fitness. Cardio and pup walk each morning. A 1-1.5 mile walk at work most days. Additional walk or yard work/gardening in the evening. Keeping up with my side goal of 8+ miles on the Apple Watch each day.

Noticing the morning light is coming later. That is hard to see!!

That’s called “consistency” . And it’s important.

Another person continuing to do mostly the same stuff every day. I consider that success.
We head to Italy for a city (Venice and Verona) and biking (Dolomite Valleys) trip in a little over 3 weeks (first time to Europe for me) so we will likely up our biking distances between now and then. This trip was planned for H’s 60th in 2020, but we are finally making it happen.
I’m on day 490 of my “streak” of 500 or more move calories a day. Many days when I bike outside or play pickleball, I get closer to twice that, but I consider it a reasonable daily goal.

Thanks for reporting in. I’ve wondered how things were going for your husband. I’m glad you’ve found a Dr. you guys like. I’m hoping for more “positive” news after colonoscopy.

Last day of vacation. Did a great 5 mile walk (round trip) along the Portland waterfront from my SIL’s to a great pizza/beer place

Just coming to share that I scored 4 goals last night playing soccer. Tuesday goals count more than weekend goals since I had to beat a goalie

Well, I’m unhappy to report that the owner (now 1 of 3 owners) of the gym didn’t install the rope climb, before he left to go back to IA, where he lives FT. Hopefully, he’ll get to it when he gets back here in about 3-4 weeks. So sad. I feel abandoned. :grinning:

Otherwise the new location is up and running though it’s still a work in progress. Sunday’s Murph was 45:15, but the temp was mid-80’s outside (higher inside) and running on the busy street (one side of the block) was an “adventure.” More like dangerous. I’m going to have to figure out a better, safer route.

I’ve been having horrible allergies (probably grass pollen? happens most years starting as early as mid August). Really itchy eyes, scratchy throat. Claritin-D and Allegra-D give decent help, but not for the 24 hours promised.

I have not been running. Admittedly today I would have likely skipped running anyway… there is rapid temp ramp-up in the morning when on days that go to 97 degrees. But biking didn’t happen either past few days. The biggest contributor may have been when out in the yard gardening. I can cut back on that, but gotta get out and water.

Well, I got my watch exercise streak to go 498 days. Now watch is at the repair place, hoping to be fixed. Doesn’t sound likely, and if it can’t be fixed it will likely be mid next week before I get a new one.
I had navy blue, which I just assumed was a normal color, but apparently not. I really hope they can fix it…

@Colorado_mom Ugh. I feel your pain. Mid August is when the grass usually starts up around here and lasts until the first frost in November or so. I use the generic version of Zitador eye drops. They seem to help if you do them every day. They’re OTC at Target/Walmart.

Today the Summer of Suck comes to an end. H goes back to work Monday. Teachers have been back for 3 weeks, kids for 2, but H took the first 2 weeks with kids off for his hip. I am SOOOOOO looking forward to getting my quiet house at lunchtime back. Best part of my day. And I will be taking a day off next week and just sitting in my house, curled up in a recliner doing NOTHING. Well, nothing after my workout. Some things don’t change.

Workouts have been going really well. I am finishing up week 6 out of 8. I’m just digging this program. Still can’t decide whether to jump in and do it again, or mix something in there in between for a few weeks before repeating. Probably should do the latter, but I’d prefer the former. I’m leaning up nicely and my HR has dropped to levels historically seen when I’ve been in great running shape. I’m not in great running shape, but I’ll take the low HR.

Thanks for the Zitador drops hint. I actual have some, given to me by an elderly friend that I help (she added them to her grocery order). So far I’ve just used them in the evening, when the morning allergy meds start wearing off. Probably I should learn to start them before the symtoms get intense.

For me the zitador seems to be more like Zyrtec/Claritin. They are better at stopping issues from happening vs improving the symptoms once they’re there. If my eyes are already in trouble, I’ll use the Walmart version of the drops below. Itchy/gooey eyes are awful!

Glad they are helping, but thanks go to @ClassicMom98.

A Murph now 10 weeks in a row. And 12 out of the last 13 weeks, since Memorial Day. I had my doubts that I was doing anything today. My right shoulder has been recently “barking.”

However, the motto is “embrace the suck.”

I used a new running route at the new location, where I have to cross the busy 4-lane street and then run around the adjacent block. A far safer 1+ mile route. But I did lose some seconds crossing the street 4 (out and back x2) times.

Time: 46:45. Temp: 87 degrees.

The rest of the week was the usual. Typically, as of late, I go light(er) on Monday to compensate for the “heavy” weekend(s).

Well, my watch died Friday, and yesterday the left side of my left foot started hurting. It got worse as the day progressed.
I have an appt. with an ortho doc later today. Normally I might wait a few days before heading to doc, but we are scheduled to go on a biking trip to Italy in 12 days.

Doc didn’t see any stress fracture on foot, and thinks I’ll at least be OK for trip.
New watch ordered today.

Things are looking up

i got a treadmill from my Buy Nothing group. So excited as I was thinking of buying one. This will be a good trial run – pun intended. Goodbye, stationary bicycle that hurts my butt and lady parts!
