I drove up to the outdoor pull-up bar(s) and there were three young guys using them. They didn’t have face masks, so we agreed to take turns. I wore my face mask when I would approach the bar and while doing my muscleups, dips, DB snatches, toes to bar and jump rope. I used wipes on the bar that I was using.
When you’re gasping for air, which is kinda normal when exercise, wearing a face mask is really, really difficult. I had to walk away down the path and take my face mask off between my sets. The three young guys didn’t have much care in the world, but I kept my distance from them.
I came back home and finished with 5 sets of 500m rows and 10 GHD sit-ups.
today was WW weigh in day and zoom meeting day for me. A bit of up and down throughout the week but ended on a very good note. When I get outside and do yard work for many hours, it does pay off if I am able to keep the intake reasonable.
I have more raking, mulching to do in the yard which I will fit in between the rainy days. This is first priority for exercise, walks (no mask but unfortunately avoiding the more crowded areas) second, and indoor stuff last.
I found my old aerobic step in the basement! Cleaned it off and it is now in my “workout room”. I don’t think I will do a step class, and I had been using the coffee table for bench things, but the body pump video I like does walking pushups on the step which is a better height.
Happy Earth Day , all! Ran a virtual earth day 5K this morning. Along with a .5 mile warm up run and 1.5 slower run post race I got 5 miles in. I social distanced of course but it was easy as I only saw a few people out anyway. Pulled my neck scarf up anytime I was anywhere near someone.
Good job on the virtual 5K! I got outside for 3.8 miles with my bright yellow Altra low profile trail shoes. I wanted to see how they felt on the road. I liked them a lot. Plus- they look cool, which is important, right? Clouding up now…
@Midwest67 , so glad to hear you are starting to get some energy back. FWIW, I’ve had multiple people in my life with covid19 (presumptive positive by their docs, but not tested due to limited testing–they are from various states) who all reported feeling better and then had a mild “relapse” for a couple of days again, and then got back to normal. Clearly, it affects everyone differently, but it was helpful to me to hear that this is a common path for my admittedly limited data set.
Yesterday I finally ran for an hour (which, as a reminder, means I am very slow and low distance) which is the first time it happened since I got sick in March. Super grateful. And today one kid and I did “PE with Joe”. Bit by bit!
I did a fast walk (and occasional very slow jog) around our neighborhood for about 75 minutes late this morning, then rode my indoor bike for maybe 20 minutes.
Now I’m listening to webinars for Prof dev credits to maintain credential while posting here.
I was still struggling to get out of bed this morning, but I got it done. I told myself that I could just walk, but after a few minutes I starting bobbing, and then running. Workout was Phase 1 Legs. This was not my favorite, but I pushed through. The ab challenge is so challenging this week, but I made it through. The 2nd (of 6) exercises is the hardest. Once I’m past that, it feels downhill.
I did stop at 6:15 this morning to text older S a happy birthday, and got a big surprise when he texted back. He’s not an early riser! He said he was just up this morning. He didn’t know why. I told him his body was remembering 22 years ago. LOL.
As far as when I’ll go back to the gym, we will see. I’m not in a huge hurry. I would not feel good about returning in the next couple of weeks. Our governor has a SIP order until June 10th and non-essential businesses closed until May 8th. How those two dates work together, I don’t know. I am planning on staying in Club C-gym until June 10th. After that, I will reassess. Of course, if H goes back then it’s all for nought for me staying home anyway. But, I am glad that he is an MD and appears to not be swayed by pressure.
Did the kettleball workout mentioned by @Bromfield2. Went well, though I had to use a dumbell for a couple of things because my two kettleballs felt a little too heavy for them. Added on some TRX and a bit of the HASfit routine, and did one of their Ab routines. Spent a good hour. Oh and we ordered t-shirts from the HASfit guys and wore them today. Figured they deserved some support.
Two yoga classes today (virtual)–did a regular flow class and then did one that focused on stretching to help strengthen muscles for a healthy back. That one included a fair number of lunges, downward dog, and airplane pose.
Has anyone seen pictures of the old Bikram hot yoga training where hundreds of yoga mats were lined up practically touching each other? That sure wouldn’t fly these days! Of course, Bikram turned out to be really sketchy.
We cannot get over the lousy weather hump it seems. An occasional nice day here and there but still lots of cold, grey days.
1.5 mile walk in the morning and then an abasket 5k after working - I was home for only minutes when it started to sleet and snow! Not ok! Turned to rain but still…let’s go with some good weather April!
I’m really thankful for my friend who told me about Fitness Blender. Did another strength workout after sunrise yoga. I’ll try to take a work break and take a walk before the rain comes in
Wet and really windy outside this morning, so it seemed like a good time to go downstairs to the treadmill. I didn’t want to run and I was lacking in energy, but got 3.7 miles done. Having weekly mileage goals helps me, as does the desire to be able to ramp up mileage when I’m ready in order to race longer distances. I’m not there right now, but the thought of it keeps me going.
