Thanks so much! And coming from Boston, starting a little early and getting settled might not be a bad thing!
Daughter denied OOS NJ.
We had no idea academic bar would be so high at FSU for admittance. My older daughter actually applied here back in 2016. My daughter’s rejection letter today stated 60,000 freshman applicants for a desired class size of just 6,000! That’s insane! Judging from the postings here today of admitted students, I would absolutely not advise any student or family to consider FSU next year unless you have 3.8+ GPA, 1375+ SAT or 30+ ACT. (Especially if you are OOS!) I’m thinking you absolutely must be top 10% of class to get in here now. Congrats to all those who made it!

Can someone explain the spring admit thing to me?
ANYONE who has experience with this stuff, would you mind helping me:
The summer offer reply form is due March 4th, but enrollment deposits and stuff are due May 1st it also says. It says the summer thing is non-binding. If i complete this do I have to enroll, or can I still have freedom until May 1 because I would like to wait for RD schools to come out?
Thanks! The full ride is for National Merit Finalist.
“On behalf of Florida State University, I am pleased to offer you the Benacquisto Scholarship in recognition of your outstanding academic performance. The total amount of this award equals the institutional cost of attendance minus the National Merit Scholarship, valued at over $140,000. This scholarship also guarantees admission into FSU’s distinguished Honors Program.”
FSU recalculates GPA. For instance- my DD had a 4.6 at her last school (TX) and by Fl recalculations only a 3.88. Perhaps his recalculated GPA was significantly lower than expected?
I got in with the Benacquisto full-ride and honors admit! I’m applying for Choral Music Education though, so I will audition next weekend to see if I get into the music program
OOS (California)
1570 SAT
All A’s, 4.15 weighted at the beginning of senior year
3 AP exams, a 5 and two 4s

Accepting the summer offer isn’t binding you to enroll. It is just you acknowledging that you applied for fall, but they are accepting you for summer, and you agree to that if you do decide to enroll.
Spring admit from their site:
Spring Offer
The student applied for fall or summer term but was offered admission to the spring term, provided that they complete 15 semester hours of credit at another institution in the fall. To be admitted, the student must acknowledge the term change by completing the Spring Offer Reply Form on their Application Status Check. Acknowledging the spring offer does not commit the student to attend Florida State. Our office will periodically follow-up with the student over the summer and fall as we prepare for their enrollment in the spring.
Applied summer and undeclared. OOS NJ. 3.55 GPA and 1270 SAT fully rejected. Only know one girl out of everyone I knew that applied that got in

If anyone gets pathway! Take it, it’s spring acceptance and they can go abroad to London or TCC for Fall and than roll into campus springtime.
My daughter spent her first year at FSU and now spending the entire year plus summer in London at there beautiful campus. Hit me up if you have any questions
Son accepted OOS with out of state waiver. I don’t see anyone OOS on here that got the waiver and the freshman scholarship as well. It was noted earlier in the thread that this isn’t a possibility anymore. My daughter currently is a junior at FSU and was fortunate to receive both.
My daughter got aping acceptance. Went to TCC for Fall. Stayed at Southgate (best location and dorm) to both TCC and FSU students and best food. My daughter ended up not liking Tallahassee that much so now she is spending the entire year FSU London campus. Beautiful and having the time of her life. She just signed up for summer. Good luck

@Suldog1969 We are from the Boston area as well. I can tell you from experience that being on campus for the summer will be a GREAT opportunity. It might not seem that way with friends still home and the fact your student will move away sooner (rather than later) but it will be a great grounding that a lot of freshmen won’t have. Congrats!!
Summers a good choice thou! Take c semester and try and stay at southgate which is a private dorm, best location ever. Good luck what ever you decide
Friend got deferred with a 2.6 GPA and a 1080 SAT. really confused. Dance program
if i received spring transfer admit, am i allowed to study abroad the first year instead of going to another institution? i know with pathways it’s spring admit if you study abroad the first year but i’m confused on how spring works and if i can study abroad instead. a big thing about FSU for me was their FYA program and if i do spring, i guess i can’t do that? super confused idk
@account5275 and @collegehunt2017 Congrats both and I am honestly nosy (I don’t have a freshman or FL applicant). They offer OOS waiver at FL State? Does that mean you pay instate tuition? If yes, awesome!
