My son did not get in. In state, 3.75 weighted GPA, 1400 and 32 and tons of activities plus a part time job.

SAT: 1320

@3sonsmom They do have an out of state waiver and their in state tuition price is amazing- $6,500 for 2 semesters. This is much less than most state’s in state tuition cost. There is a merit requirement for gpa and test scores to receive this waiver and it changes from year to year based on the current applicant pool. It is usually about a 3.5 uw gpa and a 30 or 31 act. This admissions cycle it was 31 for the act and 1390 for the SAT, as well as a weighted gpa of 4.0+ There was something posted on FSU admissions twitter account today to this effect.
From the admissions website:
Spring Offer
The student applied for fall or summer term but was offered admission to the spring term, provided that they complete 15 semester hours of credit at another institution in the fall. To be admitted, the student must acknowledge the term change by completing the Spring Offer Reply Form on their Application Status Check. Acknowledging the spring offer does not commit the student to attend Florida State. Our office will periodically follow-up with the student over the summer and fall as we prepare for their enrollment in the spring.
Doesn’t say anything about study abroad. You may want to call the office.

For Fall 2020 Semester
ACT: 25 (I know, it’s really low)
Unweighted GPA: 3.72
Class Rank: Top 5% in Class
Took the most rigorous course load at my school
Overall, I thought I would be denied or accepted to the summer or spring term so I’m extremely grateful for this acceptance into the Fall Term.
@Stephh1k and @Schubby1 I’m so surprised you didn’t get accepted with your stats. What state are you from?
Do you have to give a deposit in order to apply for the honors program? It asks for an ID when filling out the application. Do u only get that Id after your pay?
i got offered spring transfer admission. i’m in-state, my SAT is 1350, my weighted GPA is 6.1, i’m in the IB program, and my essay and extracurriculars are really good. i don’t know why i was offered the transfer option & i feel really upset about it
HELP!
Admitted for Summer rather than Fall. However, I’m on the west coast and graduation is two weeks before FSU’s summer term starts. I’m not able to get across the country for the start of summer term. Plus, I work in the summer to pay for college.
Anyone have any experience or insight on whether FSU will change my admission status to Fall?
My daughter received the OOS tuition waiver today too! Big surprise, we are thrilled!

Daughter OOS recieved tuition waiver… 32 ACT (33 superscored), 14 Direct Dual Enrollment classes at a local university(Nominated for a University level award in English), 3.9 U/W GPA, Strong extracurricular, volunteer and honors/award records.
Anyone know if she has a real chance at qualifying for the Honors College? A friend told her she’d need a 34 on the ACT to get in.
Denied OOS too.
-3.75 UW/4.1 W GPA
-31 ACT
-Applied comp sci
-2 really unique and deep ECs with international honors that I’ve participated in since elementary school
-applied on FSU website since my Common App was maxed - think that also was a factor, since they did not see my essays
@NJOOSNOSIDAM I totally agree. Had no idea the bar would be so high. I had a C+ in AP Chem one semester of my jr year when I got my first job, and I guess that did me in. FSU is clearly not a safety and agree, anything under a 3.8 GPA by the way they calculate puts you at risk. I have 10 acceptances via EA, a few of which are nearly full rides, and really great merit from most of them, so a little surprised at the denial. 60K applicants and only 6K accepted is a tough competition.
I’m bummed, my mom grew up in FL and was looking forward to checking out the campus, but it wasn’t on my radar until I read about past merit aid and decided to give it a shot. Feeling more grateful that I applied EA for the ones where I’ve been accepted, for sure. I’m starting to think RD this year is going to be brutal. Congrats and good luck to all who got in!
