since i'm a huge fan of food, how's the food at UCSD? i'm going to be in warren college. how about the places around UCSD (la jolla)?

i've heard it's alright, not amazing...but yes, i'd like to hear it from someone who's actually eaten there before myself

I ate Panda Express on admit day.. they were too salty for my taste.
oh man.. I'm gonna miss my mom's cookings :(

since panda express is not part of the food plan...don't worry about it

I'm kinda worrying about the price in restaurants near Warren
I heard that the food in canyon vista is really expensive, is it true?

ugh panda express :(. Panda Express is a disgrace to chinese food. :/.

hahahaha! well, i heard the pub was good for pizza.

canyon vista isn't too expensive, it really depends on what u get. sometimes they have 12 dollar steak, but if u can just get something else if u dont wanna spend that much. pasta/pizza is fairly cheap, and stir-fry is 5 (dont remember)? depends what you get.

it phuckin sucks a lot b/c it's like a fast food setup: you have to pay for everything, no all-you-can-eat dining halls like every other college in the world.

if you eat a lot, you're gonna blow a ****load of $ real fast

I like Canyon Vista.

to anyone, do you go over the 1800 points, and if so by about how much?

i went way over and will spend about 400 over by the end of the year.

thanks, anyone else?

how is food at muir college??????

Correct me if I'm wrong Muir and OVT are one of the better dinning commons.

Ventanas is my favorite dining hall--Summit comes in second.

And I'm also $100 above what I'm supposed to be right now. One just has to be able to manage meal points and not get too many unnecessary things or go out to eat every once in a while off-campus.

if you eat a lot, you're gonna blow a ****load of $ real fast

Those schools' dining plans are more expensive than UCSD's; the price difference can be found in the housing price differentials between the colleges. Also, besides UCLA's famed dining halls, the buffet commons you can find at others, notably Berkeley and Irvine, the food there is horrible in comparison to UCSD's.

thanks for the incite oyama

How much did you pay for your 1800 points last year because this year i know its like $2200 so does that mean next year we'll get more than 1800 points?

we're gonna get 2100 points this year

what's the whole points thing about? someone please explain to me. i'm lost in my own thread.

1800 meal points = $1800, so yeah, basically $2100 = 2100 meal points. sucks for people like me who don't eat a lot in the dining halls, which is part of the reason why i'm moving off campus for next year :].

http://hds.ucsd.edu/diningplan/index.html simply put, you have 1800 meal points which you can use to buy food/drinks/items (at earl's place and in some vending machines around campus) at any of the dining halls. everything thing you buy/will eat has a point value which is deducted from your 1800 total every time you check out at the cashier counter. so even if you wanted to refill your soda/milk/drink, you'd have to go back to the cashier and pay with more points (water is free thou). i think the best way for freshmen to understand the meal points deal is to think of your ID Campus Card as a debit credit card with $1800 on it which you can spend on food at the dining halls. everything at the dining hall will have a sticker or sign that states for example $0.95, $3.50, etc. and you will not get back any money if you do not end up using all 1800 points at the end of the year :/.
