@BinghamtonFan123: If a federal work-study program is offered in your financial aid award offer, I would definitely seek a position as soon as you arrive on campus. They tend to disappear fairly quickly, so being an early bird will give you the best opportunities in terms of doing something more interesting to you.

Congratulations again on Binghamton. We both consider it our dream school! ;)

@bingambassador
Once again, thank you for answering my questions quickly with clarity. Instead of worrying, ill leave it to the admissions officers to make the best choice.
Hope to see everyone at Binghamton University. And congrats to all who’ve been accepted.

@BingAmbassador Thanks for the advice, so I guess as soon as I get my email I will hurry and Look for jobs at e-recruiting, hows life in Binghamton? is it everything I thought it would be ( Awesome Mountains, Quiet Peaceful Location, tons of smart people and Great Professors?)

@itsminkthks: You’re welcome! Please let us know what happens! :)

@BinghamtonFan123: There is no shortage of mountains, smart people and great professors. However, “quiet peaceful location,” just like at any college, depends upon who you live with. In my suite in Mountainview, it’s fairly quiet unless we want otherwise. ;)

And, just like at any college, there are some “iffy” professors here that people dread having to take a course with. On the flipside, there are also those “awesome” professors that EVERYONE wants to take a course with. You can check on ratemyprofessors.com at the same time you begin the course registration process.

@BingAmbassador, I know this is a long shot, and I have accepted I probably didn’t get it in, but do you think SOM is still reviewing applications for transfers? The reason I was asking was because transfers for SOM last year were getting acceptances around mid or even late April and rejections in May, unless last year things were different for SOM transfers… I also applied kinda last minute during the second week of Feb and my transcripts arrived 3/3/10 and essay probably 3/6/10.

@jringo718: The suggested deadline for Fall 2010 transfer applications was March 15, 2010. There is no set date for transfer student notification: “rolling until class is filled.” Assuming the class has not yet been filled, you can still receive an acceptance.

@BingAmbassador, thank you, I can at least hold out a little hope. I’ve been hoping they just haven’t gotten to my application yet, I hope there is still room.

@BingAmbassador I was thinking of getting an apartment as I already have my friend who wants to get one too, but I have heard there are some bad/shady neighborhoods that offer cheap apts because of bad locations, I will keep checking the Binghamton Housing Apt Search on binghamton.com, what do you think?

@BinghamtonFan - are you entering as a transfer student or a freshman? The only reason I ask is because the only way you can live off campus and commute to school as a freshman is if you live within 50 miles of the University in Broome or Tioga counties.

If you do eventually want to get an apartment eventually, the University Plaza apartments are amazing and for about the same price if you were to live in the on-campus apartments. I’ve been living there for 2 years now and I love it. If you don’t want to pay for that there are other apartment places such as Hayes community, right off campus that is a little cheaper.

it worked for me!
I’m an international transfer applicant, and I realized that my application status has changed slightly 4 days ago… I was dying to wait to get a mail from them, and still have not, this is a great source to know whether I’m admitted. thanks a LOT!!

On Long Island; didn’t receive anything; when logging in, there is no indication either day. D just wants to know…not sure anyone in her school has heard yet…

do they send letters out for different schools at different times? because my friend got her letter for SOM two days ago and I applied to Harpur and haven’t received anything…im from ny
