I just called the admissions office at Binghamton and the woman I spoke with told me that she did not know anything about being able to pay the tuition deposit, or if it was any indicator of admissions. She also told me that notification of admission for instate students would be any time between now and April 1st via email, with the letters following afterwards. She said that notification would appear under the application status in the BU Brain.

When I followed that link, it said I was currently eligible to pay for my Fall 2010 tuition deposit. I can’t imagine they would allow me to pay if I didn’t get in… haha but who knows, suny needs money.

I was thinking about just paying it anyways and if I end up with a rejection letter in my hand I can always just say “But hey, I’m already enrolled!”

My son has also just become eligible to pay a tuition deposit for Fall 2010 Watson Lower School. Woman I spoke with at admissions didn’t know anything about whether this indicated admission. Maybe it was the same one Buffalo531 spoke to. Has anyone (in-state) learned of admission in another way yet?

Have any instate students received this “email” prior to the mailed acceptance letter or even a change in admissions status on the BU Brain yet?

I’ve only seen OOSers post on the Facebook page about an acceptance email. I don’t know why admissions says email and BU status change before letter, when it states on BU brain undergrads will hear by letter only. No one I know has gotten a letter yet.

from what it sounds like, if you can log in it means you’ve been accepted, and if you can’t log in, it doesn’t mean you’ve neccesarily been rejected, they might just not have entered it in for you yet. but don’t quote me on this

I called the office today and the online payment site for admissions is down. Freshman decisions will be mailed ‘soon’ and everyone will know by April 1. Decisions will not go via email - letter only and will not be given over the phone.

Any transfers here who have decisions will need to mail them or wait for the deposit site to come back up.

Please, DO NOT attempt to discover your Admissions decision via a “backdoor” method. Until you receive an official notification via U.S. Mail, NO DECISION IS OFFICIAL. Until you are notified, it is completely within Admissions’ right to change their minds as it is still an internal decision. I am not confirming/denying whether the ability to pay a deposit means anything, as I am not in a position to officially comment on that.

Admissions decisions are generally sent via U.S. Mail, and you may receive your decision after April 1st – keep in mind that decisions mailed on the first will not reach your mailbox on that date.

Good luck to all of you, and I highly recommend that you wait until you receive notification via U.S. Mail. I understand that this is a very anxious time for all of you (trust me, I was there a little over a year ago), but you’ll do yourselves well to just patiently wait.

In the event you receive an acceptance envelope, it will be blatantly obvious that Binghamton wants you.

"The Admissions Committee has reviewed your application and discovered that your high school academic and extracurricular interests are similar to those of students who apply to our College of Community and Public Affairs program in Human Development. " BingAMbassador do you know if this email was meant to tell my daughter that she will be rejected from Harpur? She did not respond to this email asking her if she would like to be considered for this program as she did not like what the program offered. However, is this one way of being told that you will be rejected from the program you did want?
