omg…for the 10 millionth time…“normal/regular” accept/reject/wl comes out about April 1.

I’ll add this here, to sort of “hide” it because it’s distressing to me: I called today and an overworked counselor told me that anyone who got the big schollies and was invited to March 27-28 weekend…would have already gotten them by now. What he said was akin to “all scholarship recipients have been notified”. I’m pretty sure though that, in the financial aid of admitted students (on or about April 1) that some of the aid includes smaller scholarships. Maybe not. One example…my daughter is National Merit Finalist…she SHOULD be considered for the Baird program at least…that’s a scholarship. I just hope he’s wrong because…my kid (top 1% SAT and ACT both) CANNOT go to NYU without good aid. I was hoping for merit aid. But…like everyone else, we’ll know in about 2 weeks for certain.

I just read this reply of yours. Thanks for sharing with all of us.

What are back up schools for your daughter if this does not work out, given your financial situation and the limited aid from NYU (according to what is known).

I gather your daughter has applied to the IVYS which have the good FA since she has such strong stats. I remember you said your business income looks bad and does not reflect on your real ability to pay out of pocket for an expensive private school, but will this hurt your daughter’s ability to get FA in the schools that are more generous based on need?

Evolving…it’s all good. My D is in at our state uni with nearly a full ride. And she really only applied to top Ivies because they give aid to middle class now.

But she really wants to blow this pop stand, and I don’t blame her. I’m only frustrated because she’s SUCH a great fit for NYU…and I was back looking at the 2009 kids that were accepted at this time of year, they gave their stats and hardly any were close to hers.

So what I’m most concerned about is that she’s going to end up one of those bizarre denials. I’ve seen kids with 2300/4.0’s get denied! Well…I’ve seen that online…might not be true.

But she has great grades except for one semester where she moved schools, lots of weight/tough schedule/APs, twice state champion of two of her EC passions, an athlete too (but a sport that is outside of school…regional wins), National Merit Finalist, top scores in SAT, ACT, and SAT IIs, volunteerwork in two areas about which she’s very passionate, has one TRUE passion is obvious and a common thread through all her interests, 1st generation, single parent…but a caucasion girl. Both bad things to be right now. Wish she was a little closer to our American Indian blood!

Anyway…no worries…if it’s not meant to be - it isn’t. She’s good at making the most of a little…we’ve been doing that all our lives.

Your daughter sounds like a great human being. What has been gratifying to me in this crazy competitive process is that as grueling as it all is in applying to highly selective colleges, it is bringing out the best we as a human society can be (aside from over-competition or back-stabbing that can take place). All these youngsters with their special gifts, talents and endurance can only improve our society even as we see so many “negative” forces in society. If they (we, hehe) are not broken in the process, we do see the best of humanity.

:) rejection emails for international students are out already for cas at least… i have around 12 friends who have been already rejected by Cas and most of their sat score are 2200-2300 O.O!..* no acceptance and wait list yet *~

OMG seriously!!!
ahhhh!!! I don’t want to know if its bad!!! @kawaii7, do you know how their ECs were, essays, community service, hooks, etc.??
No offense, but I hope not good, so it gives us all some hope!!! ;)

i am personally guessing their essays are bad LOL i know some of them applied to like 15 schools… = o = and activity is good. SO i am guessing it is more focused on ur essay cuz i got in by ED and my Sat isnt good LOL it is okay… ( theirs were way higher than mine)

@kawaii7 if you don’t mind what were your stats? how do you think a 33 ACT is?! (34 power)… PERSONALLY, i liked my supplements and thought they were creative / showcased me well and told the reader ALOT about me. think that’s good!? :)

I think ur ACT is good dont worry your not international student ( i think…) cuz international acceptance rate is way lower than american acceptance rate

I sat = _ = not very good but Un weighted is 3.95/4 from gr 9 - 11
sat II ( got 800 , 700 sth)

AP = 5 for Chinese and expecting 5 on physic and chem

for sat I CR was okay…writing i got 11/12 on essay , grammar okay … , math bad = _ = did better on sat II level 2 math … * sigh*…

yea dude i got that same email like several weeks ago and called. Unfortunately, i dont qualify becasue i live in new jersey even though i only live 5 minutes from nyc. if u no if we still qualify please tell me

Congrats “Hope4”. Look at all the LSP threads, you’ll find a lot of kids getting pretty darn interested in this option. And…with study abroad offers for Freshman…who could ask for more, right? Seems like the LSP letters sure are coming stretched out over a LONG period of time.

Hi! First time to post in this thread but I’ve been following this for the past week. My son applied to NYU – has anyone checked their emails today? Did anyone get an email about making travel plans to NYC for April? It’s not an acceptance email but says that it’s being sent to a select group of applicants as a reminder of the events for accepted students.

“While your decision packet will not be mailed for another 2 weeks, it might be a good idea for you to start checking into travel plans to visit campus.”
