If you put down some names would they think you're not interested enough in Rice? I really really want to go to Rice but then if I get rejected or something, you never know.... so I'd like to say I'm planning on applying to other places...</p>
<p>They only ask to see what other universities people think are comparable to Rice. They expect to see a wide range of schools, including other top schools.</p>
<p>They collect statistics to see who their competition is, basically.
Also, if you apply early decision, it's pretty clear that you want to go to Rice.</p>
