for JUNIORS who are ready to get onto THE PERILOUS ROAD

P.S. Jimmy, you can take online AP classes through UCCP if you want. A little costly but I'm not sure of the exact price... http://www.uccp.org

If anyone is wondering, I AM NOT looking forward to rejecting colleges. It's just as difficult for me to reject them as it is for them to reject me. I'm not sadistic.

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to rejecting colleges either. That's assuming I get into more than one though...I just want to get the process over with.

Yeah. I felt really bad turning down Swarthmore and Brown...I felt like I was leading them on after visiting and everything..

Vicious. Truly vicious.

(This is not a bump).

I have to plan myself better. Just waiting for this junior year to be over first. Too overwhelmed with tooo many tests. But summer is almost here and I will be just as organised as theo...

Me? I don't think I'm that organized. My guidance counselor asked all of us to fill out packets about ourselves so she can get us to know better. Mine was due a month ago and I've gotten two personal notes about it. If I don't hand it in by Friday she's going to call my parents. And I think I have only 2 days to get a teacher to agree to be my advisor for my independent study course. And I've barely started studying for my AP's - three of which I'm self-studying for. And I'm not ready for my SAT II. And I just accepted a job as a tutor beyond my regular weekly volunteerwork tutoring. And I just got inducted into NHS, which means more tutoring. And I haven't told my Dad that I didn't get into Princeton's program for local high school students (taking undergrad courses at Princeton University since we live so close) because of my single B in physics. Which means he's not going to like the fact that I'm at risk for 4 more B's this year.

Eeks.

In three weeks I should be organized. Let's see if I can survive until then.

Don't worry about the B in physics. There are superhumans that are good at that stuff, but for us mere mortals, it's gibberish. I have a B+ (marginally, 87.02632) and I'm in TOTAL survival mode. I just want to SURVIVE physics (hopefully with a 87.0).

Yeah, physics is over and I'm over the B. But my Dad's not going to like how that kept me out of a year of taking classes at Princeton (granted, I don't like it either, but I forgive, forget, and move on, while he dwells on illusions and things he can't change).

Right now I'm just stressing out about my grades in my classes. AP's aren't as big a concern, although I REALLY want the National AP Scholar award (the reason why I'm taking so many exams) and I probably won't report any grades below a 5 to colleges, but that isn't as much stress as personal aspirations that take a back seat to grades.

my plan
may 1: AP English Comp
may 5: AP US History
may 12: AP Latin, Vergil (which i'm completely and utterly not prepared for)
SAT IIs May 6 (math I, US history, english lit)
june 10 ACT (for last time)

i will definitely apply EA for chicago, UGA (safety), oxford college of emory (for financial options), and georgetown
RD: rhodes (probably sewanee, agnes scott, american, bryn mawr), Alabama for my other safety (i get free tuition)

Is it that much easier? But yeah, I'll probably end up doing it online.

theoneo looks like you are gonna have a "pretty" busy summer. hope you do well:)

As for me, I'm just going to focus on several things for the summer:

SAT I (If I don't do well next sat.)
SAT II (If I don't do well in June, and also study for SAT II French)
1-2 college credit courses
Work experience/volunteer (maybe, but I've finished 250+ hrs already in grade 9 and 10, so perhaps no need for that)

AND... Something real special (and big).

That's about it. Relatively a quiet, focused summer.

I just recently discovered how to improve my time-management skills. If I do work in a room other than this room (with my computer in it), I get a LOT more done.

I haven't known productivity in so long...

Anyway, I'm totally killing myself this summer in terms of the workload I'm bringing onto myself. The whole Princeton this has kinda bummed me out and right now my grades in 4 classes are at risk. I totally regret not working harder earlier in the year, and now I'm feeling more industrious than ever. Soo this summer I'm packing everything I can in to prove to myself (and I guess colleges, too) that I really don't suck. :)

So I just pulled an all-nighter, just barely finishing all my work. Then I told my Mom I don't want to go to school. Haha I think I'm going insane.

Oh, theoneo, you and I are in the same boat ! I now bitterly regret of not being really diligent this year, and thus my results aren't satisfactory. This summer will be totally different.
Haha, another funny fact is I am never productive with a computer by my side :D

MY PERILOUS ROAD:
April 1, 2006: SATI-2200 (770/720/710)

May 3, 2006: AP Calculus AB Examination
May 5, 2006: AP United States History Examination
May something: Chemistry, ROTC, Debate, Drama Finals.
June 3, 2006: SATI (Again, curses)
June 10, 2006: ACT

Summer
Stanford National Forensics Institute
Cornell University Summer College
Volunteer Time (?)

Fall (CRUNCH TIME!!!)

ROUND 1

UMiami (early)
Stanford University
Cornell University
Rice University
Georgia Institute of Technology

*and some others by then

Winter
ROUND 2:
Cuss/Dance depending on acceptances/rejections
Burn my books
Realize what I've done and scramble to steal new ones
Laugh at my own idiocy

Spring

Dance like there' no tomorrow

I'm going to every school dance next year. This year I couldn't go to one because it was the week before the PSAT, one was the day after the SAT, and I can't go to Junior Prom tomorrow because of AP's.

AHH.

Next year I'm going all out.
