Our school's prom is the night of the SAT. o.O

Night before or night after? Aka Friday or Saturday?

Ours is the night before LOL.

One once fell on the day of the SAT...stupid plan by the system.
The Master Plan:
May: take my 3 APs
June: SAT II, part I (World History, Chemistry, Math IIC)
July-August: maintain Chinese skills, study as needed for SAT I; take improvisation classes at Tri-C
September: begin Senior Year and the hell of studying for six APs at once
October: SAT I, first administration
November: SAT II, second round: Chinese, Literature, Spanish or SAT I if scores on previous are above 2350 combined
December: SAT I, second or third administration
January: Applications due to Oberlin, Ohio State among four other colleges (none too difficult)

The rest applies if I were to fail to gain entry and continue learning Chinese:
April: Begin applications to Cambridge and Hong Kong universities or gap year in China
If second plan fails but gap year in China works, then June 2008: Gaokao administration for admission to mainland Chinese schools (Fudan, Zhejiang)

bump...........

Saturday. The night before would be horrible! :(

Yeah, like my school! :)

And they WONDER why nobody goes to school events. We cancel school dances regularly because not enough people show up.

I'm going to every school dance next year. This year I couldn't go to one because it was the week before the PSAT, one was the day after the SAT, and I can't go to Junior Prom tomorrow because of AP's.

AHH.

Next year I'm going all out.
[/quote]

Wow, it sounds like our schools scheme together, theoneo. The only dance I've gone to this year was for homecoming, not counting Governor's Ball for KEY Club. Next year shall be amazing though, especially if I get into my EA school. :]

My school does stuff like that the week after SAT's, APs whatever. But anyways....I agree...next year shall be amazing....especially if I get into NYU Stern ED....if I get into Stern ED and don't get in anywhere else, I'll still be ecstatic. :)

I was just thinking the same thing myself, ihateCA! All I need is for Stanford to accept me EA, and my life (okay, not my life, but definitely my month) would be made! My wallet would be a lot emptier though, seeing as how I would then race over to Stanford one weekend and buy out every single sweatshirt, shorts, pants, etc. that they have lol.

I haven't gone to ANY school dances this year cause we ALWAYS have some kind of standardized test within a week after the event.

Homecoming - PSAT the week after
Royal Knights Ball (sponsored by my class) - SAT the next day
Junior Prom - AP's begin 3 days later

I don't know what you're talking about, chillaxin. My life would be made if I got into Stanford.

yeah so like, i'm totally not stressed about this college thing. that probably just means im a cocky b4st4rd who needs a reality check...but hey, it's good not to stress.
so, as of now, i'm really hoping to go to either stanford or yale, and i have no clue which one to pick as of now. anyone have any feedback? i think the chances of getting into either are equal.

In general, Yale is more known for humanities and arts, while Stanford has absolutely superb science progams.

yes that's what I thought. Now, what do I do if I absolutely abhor English majors and artsy writers, but want to major in Political Science? Just fyi, I absolutely loved the atmosphere at MIT, and I would apply...if only I wanted to be a science/math major..So, with that in mind, would I find the atmosphere at Stanford to be better?

oh god, so many CCers taking the same sat ii's as me. FAIL, all of you - so i can at least get a decent SHOT at good scores, lol.

my "roadmap"!

chyaaaa, i'm ready for this :)

Prom is day of SAT II's for me. I considered going anyway but I'm actually not that big on prom. =P

Instead: concert at Heinz Hall! Yay! (classical, godly $50 tickets)

Precocious, are you going to Great America on the 19th? Our calc class is going on the 12th as a celebration of APs being over. :]

Or are you going to PKI? Math and Science Day there in 6th grade was one of the best days of my life, our teacher gave us this huge packet, saying we had to do all of it (it asked physics and other sciency stuff about all the rides there), but when we got there we only had to do two pages of it! That day we rode Son of Beast and the Beast both in the rain, which hurt a lot but was nevertheless fun.

But my schedule coming up is pretty crazy too...

Today- Swim Meet
May 2nd- School Honor Roll/Reading Award Ceremony
May 3rd- Idea of America Essay Contest Deadline
May 4th- AP Lit Exam
May 5th- AP USH Exam
May 13th (morning)- Swim Meet (possibly, haven't decided yet)
May 13th (evening)- End of the year Band Concert/Banquet
May 14th (morning)- AAA Travel Challenge Nationals Prelims
May 14th (evening)- Baccalaureate (sp?), I'm ushering
May 15th- AAA Travel Challenge Finals/Banquet
May 19th- Graduation, I'm ushering, and playing for band
May 24th- Chemistry Honors Final Exam
May 27th-June 3rd- A much needed vacation in Siesta Key!
June 3rd- SAT II's (Biology E/M, Math IIC, USH)
June 10th- ACT's

Oh, and during all of this I still have to worry about 3 hours of swimming every day (plus morning practices 2-3 times per week), band practice, studying for all these exams and travel challenge, getting elected as NHS president, and SGA elections. Let the stress begin! Good luck to all of us during our last few weeks of our second to last school year!

BTW, Do make sure that if you didn't go to school dances year, go all out next year as they are all so much fun. You will really miss out if you don't go to any your junior AND senior years!

What's PKI? I know Great America has Math & Science Days for the first three fridays of May, but I'm not sure if it's just for high schoolers or if it's for all students.

You guys should start writing your essays now...it'll take a lot of stress off your backs in the fall, which is when grades are actually REALLY important.
