I do not wear make up but I want to start now. What are the good brands of makeup (I'm black btw). Thanks ladies.

One of my friends uses Fashion Fair. I use Clinique-- I'm white, but they have (much) darker shades.

I don't wear make up either and I'm black as well, I hear Mac is pretty good.

covergirl just came out with a line specifically for african american girls.

all good just different prices:

pretty expensive would be:
dior, chanel, estee lauder, urban decay, lancome, lulu, etc etc.

fair price:
mac, tarte, smashbox, clinique, sugar, hard candy, etc etc.

cheaper:
covergirl, maybelline, almay, etc etc.

sephora rocks!
most companies pay their respect to african american women by making darker lines.

i can completely answer this!!1 I'm black and I wear Mac and Urban Decay and Chanel (only sometines). i agree with supermodel, sephora had a great variety of makeup.

hotpice u r hilarious. u seem soooooooo eager to answer. lol. i luv those brands!

Shimura's pretty good.... but way expensive.... but i agree with crazyapp2010. Mac's a reliable brand.

If I tried to help you, you would pro

hahaha, i finally feel like i can impart some advice on the people of CC.

everyone usually asks questions like "are you doing RSI or Harvard SSP or TASP" and i have no idea what those are, so i get excited when i can answer a question...

mac's stuff is usually 10- 20 bucks and is cute and way cool. everyone loves mac. shimura is expensive
the only thing u shud never buy is jessica simpson's dessert line- ewwww.

oohhh and benefit rocks, too.

Don't use Clinique's skincare line, though. I don't care what you hear. Aveeno is excellent and cheaper.

If I tried to help you, you would probably end up looking like Michael Jackson.

Doesn't everybody want to look like MJ? I have a Jacko-makeover counter at school.

lol. i like cliniques foundation, but its unnecessary. for inexpensive brands, aveeno is good stuff, so is almay for eyeliner, and maybelline for mascara. oo and maxfactor rocks, too. i like this board, too, the people in the other boards are all "take 35 aps and create a couple of your own or dont even think about harvard!"

i love urban decay mascara if i am looking for the dramatic look... but that may be too intense for a first time makeup wearer.

I use Clinique's Naturally Glossy- I have long eyelashes anyway, so I look like a Dolly Parton wannabe when going for the dramatic look.

i use dior and lancome and max factor mascara,
urban decay eyeliner for intense,
estee lauder for everyday eyeliner,
lancome juicy tubes for lips,
burt's bees for lip balm,
lancome powder,
clinique foundation,
mac eyeliners for dramatic look,
dior eyeshadows,
sephora eyeshadows,
mac eyeshadows for dramatic looks,
benefit blush.

and no i dont look totally fake,
i try to go for the natural look most of the time
which is hard when u get caried away lol

Since this will be your first time wearing makeup, go for loose powder.

I do use mascara though! I like loreal featherlash. I have fairly long (not insane) eyelashes, but they're super light so you can't see them unless I have mascara on, and I don't like how I look without eyelashes. Surprisingly, I wear black mascara.
