Alas, no priority registration except for athletes. But if you come in with at least six or seven AP classes, you’ll generally register a day or two before other kids in your class. For whatever reason, many Catholic high schools don’t seem keen on offering enough AP courses, which really helps the public-school kids who enter with 18-21+ credits. You can also get mad credit for scoring well on IB exams, but I’m not familiar with the whole IB process.

Fwiw, honors registration is not really an issue because a) you’re “competing” with only 35 other kids, b) professors usually teach multiple sections of their honors courses, and c) Dr. Nasuti can just put you into the classes you need if there’s a conflict. Science registration is pretty low-key because i) frosh chem lectures use the same exams, ii) anyone who doesn’t take freshman bio as a freshman gets his or her pick of sections, and iii) every non-freshman physics and chem course has only one section per semester.

Am I the only one who received an email in November? Fordham had sent me an email around thanksgiving telling me I had been accepted. Then there was the FAFSA assistance hot line they provided. Very nice thing to do for students. I don’t know if this helps but I have a 95 gpa (like a 3.7 3.8 I think it doesn’t really average out correctly) scored a 33 on my ACT. It was all in all pretty quick response from them.

Starter, if you read back in this thread, you will note a collection of folks who received emailed acceptances starting Nov 19ish. The majority of EA notifications went out by mail this week.

Today, I got a letter in the mail saying I was one of the top applicants and I was invited to participate in “Experience Fordham” where I get to spend 3 days (Feb 28-Mar 2) living as a Fordham student, staying in the residence halls, and seeing a broadway show. Airfare, NYC transportation, meals and entertainment will be provided. Anyone else going?

Is there anyone that still has not received anything? I feel like everyone already got their packages/letters and I’m the only one here derping :(

Is the experience Fordham program only offered to students from far away states to increase geographic diversity? I live within two hours of Fordham but I received the full tuition Semifinalist scholarship so I am hoping to get invited on that program although I haven’t received anything yet. Let me know what you guys think!

I got an estimate of financial and merit aid today in the mail, because I took up their abridged FAFSA program. How much did you guys get? I got offered $26,600 with an $150k parental income and a 2160 SAT score.

Paramitas, was your $26,000 for every year, and all grant – or some loans? My daughter received a $13,800/year merit scholarship – no loans – with a 2120 SAT (also National Merit Commended Student) and parental income of $270,000.

Every year, and yes, they said it was all gift aid- I do not have to pay it back. No loans. It didn’t specify whether it was financial or merit aid.

Thanks so much! Congratulations to your daughter as well. My GPA is 3.32. It seems lowish, but to put it into perspective it puts me around the top 10% of my class. Do you have any idea what percentage of students enrolling at Fordham receive some sort of merit aid?

I’ve heard it’s a large percentage – like 80%? – but that coud include people getting only a few thousand. Again, you must have really impressed Fordham – good luck to you!!
