I am considering transferring form my current university (UNR) to a CC for the spring semester. From there I hope to transfer yet again to either UCSB or SDSU for Fall 2016. Does anyone have insight as to how this will affect my chances at being accepted at these universities?
Hey there, O Street!
I’m in a similar situation, and from the research that I’ve done it seems that it may or may not have an impact depending on certain circumstances.
One would be your standing at your current university, and another would be how you did at the CC.
If you’ve done well at both (something like 3.0 and above), then it is certainly possible to transfer to these universities.
Now, another thing to take into account is your major and whether it is impacted or not.
If it is, then a higher GPA will most likely be required in order to be competitive.
But to answer your question simply, I don’t believe it inherently affects your chances of being accepted.
What really matters is how you did at each institution.
Hope this helps!
Thank you M Housos,
I really appreciate the response and ill keep that in mind.
I’m in the same situation, except I’m looking to transfer because I did horribly my freshman year. When transferring out of CC will colleges look at my cumulative gpa or just my gpa from cc?
