<p>Do people truly benefit from hardships and misfortunes?</p>

<pre><code>In most cases, hardships and misfortunes will be beneficial, because people can easily learn from such failures. Take the examples, of Howard Schultz and Oprah Winfrey. These two persons experienced true misfortunes throughout their lifes and came out stronger than ever.
Howard Schultz, who grew up in poverty, now has a networth of over 1 billion us$ and is at the head of one of the most popular coffee shops, starbucks. Life wasn’t always easy for Howard. As he was growing up, he was often victim of abuses by his father. But that did not stop him. He loved to play sports because it would get him away from his house. In fact, he was so good at sports that he eventually received a scholarship at a university in Michigan, making him the first in his family to attend college. After graduating from college, he became the manager of a coffee shop called il giornale. One day, on a business trip to Italy, he noticed that coffee shops were all over the place. After returning to the US, he tried to convince his bosses to expand the business. Unfortunately, his bosses refused. But once again, that did not stop Howard Schultz. He quit his shop and launched Starbucks which is now a successful international company. As we can see from this example, hardships and misfortunes can act as powerful motivators which can eventually lead to success.
Secondly, Oprah Winfrey, who, similarly to Howard Schultz, grew up in poverty, also rose to success after experiencing many failures. Oprah was born to a single teenage mother who barely had enough money to support the both of them. Oprah had a very difficult childhood: she was raped at the age of 9 and became pregnant at the age of 14. Furthermore, her child died in infancy. All these hardships, however, did not stop her. She became a host at her high school radio and at the age of 19 she became an anchor on the local news channel. However, due to her emotional background, she was quickly transferred to the to a talk show program where she really shined. Today, she hosts the Oprah Winfrey show, the highest rated program of its kind in US history, she is the richest African American women in the world and she is one of the most generous philanthropists known to man. For Oprah Winfrey, hardships and misfortunes turned out to benefit her a lot as she became the first black billionaire.
To conclude, after taking a look at two people, Howard Schultz and Oprah Winfrey, who were able to succeed in life even after experiencing many failures and misfortunes, we can truly see that hardships can have positive effects for people. These two people are living proof that anything is possible and you should not let failure bring you down.
</code></pre>

<p>4/6 Remi. The first BP does not relate well to your thesis. Your thesis is also bland and cliched. Your paragraph on Oprah is also naive; if you asked her if getting raped improved her life because it “made her rich” do you think she would say yes?</p>

<p>Given the importance of human creativity, one would think it should have a high priority among our concerns. But if we look at the reality, we see a different picture. Basic scientific research is minimized in favor of immediate practical applications. The arts are increasingly seen as dispensable luxuries. Yet as competition heats up around the globe, exactly the opposite strategy is needed. </p>

<p>Is creativity needed more than ever in the world today? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.</p>

<h2>MY ESSAY:</h2>

<p>Economists speak of what is known as a “perfectly competetive” market, in which there are no barriers of entry. Jobs such as being a cashier or grocery bagger at at the local supermarket emulate this in the closest way possible. Without creativity, one begins to limit him or herself to a very specific range of menial tasks. When people refuse to use their own originality more than ever, they are putting themselves in competition with hundreds of other like-minded equals. This is the reason why creativity is so essential in today’s world. Creativity is essential to one’s success because through being creative, people can surpass those around them in order to be distinguished and successful.</p>

<p>For example, today one of the largest art forms is the art of video game design. Hundreds of studios compete to develop games using the latest technologies to satisfy a large market of consumers. Lately, a pattern has been noticed by myriad game critics. Rather than creating new ideas and exploring the untouched lands of game content creation, large corporations will choose to work with old intellectual property, rehashing past ideas into similar mediums. Games such as Call of Duty and Final Fantasy are vastly criticized, for avoiding innovation and instead using years-old work to lure old and loyal consumers into continuously purchasing their works. However, this business model has lately come under the scrutiny of even the most loyal of consumers. Gamers are becoming weary of constantly reused content, instead purchasing independandly produced games that are innovate and advance the artforms. Thus even large corporations are being forced to create more creative games, in order to retain users who have become suspicious of titles they have been playing for decades.</p>

<p>Furthermore, many internet entrepreneurs have had a similar experience with their respective markets. As economists would predict, web entrepreneurs are now forced to use creativity in order to make their products stand out. A notable example of this is the death of MySpace, a website that used to be valued at billions of dollars. This is because just a few years after Myspace’s creation, social-networkers abandoned it for the newly developed Facebook, which pushed the limits on a social network’s function through creative features that Myspace had failed to develop. MySpace’s failure to use creativity caused it to lose its online traction. Its stock values plummeted. It was forced to layoff developers, and it is now practically abandoned by daily users. Without the use of creativity, nobody can ever hope to be successful.</p>

<p>Creativity has become of one of the most fundamental prerequisites for success in today’s society. Only by leveraging creativity can people hope to set themselves apart from the competition. Thus, if somebody is not creative, they do not stand a chance in today’s transnational market. People must realize that today, the world policy for innovation is to either “Go big or go home.” Thus, time spent pursuing success without the aid of creativity might as well be time wasted.</p>

<p>(Just to clarify posting this again to get another score to see how the opinions differ. I really did appreciate your feedback orion22)</p>

<p>@c0nman</p>

<p>Your well-crafted essay would probably have received a score of 5/6. Your sentences are well constructed and fit well together. I would, however, suggest trying to vary your examples. What I mean by that is instead of using 2 tech related examples, try to use 1 tech related example and 1 History/Litterature/Personal life related example.
Great essay though, overall</p>

<p>This the 4th essay I have written for the SAT, please mention what was done well and what can be improved.
Thank you!</p>

<p>Is it important to question the ideas and decisions of people in positions of authority?</p>

<p>Questioning authority is something that needs to be done in order to know wether or not the leaders are being fair and just. Several examples or figures from history such as the American revolution or Rosa Parks or Gandhi help to prove this point. All previously mentioned examples are instances where the authorities had to be challenged.
Lets start with the American revolution where nationalistic feelings were rising amongst the people. The British government imposed severe taxes on america’s thirteen colonies. Take for example, the stamp act which forced people to pay something everytime they wanted to send a letter. The people were becoming more and more infuriated. That is why they decided to revolt against the British. They questioned the authority and did not find a satisfying answer. The americans fought with courage and passion but they could not have done it without the help of the french who were in great need of revenge against the British. After realizing that the authority in place was no good, the americans realized that they to challenge the British government.
The day was December 1st 1955, Rosa Parks was coming home from work, like everyday, with the bust. In Montgomery, Alabama, the buses had a section designed for black people and a section reserved for white people. The rules stated that black people should give up their seat for white people if asked to do so. On that day, the bus was almost full so the bus driver, James F. Blake, asked Rosa to give up her seat so that a white person could sit. However, Rosa Park calmly said no. She did not understand why she had to do so, therefore she questioned the authority in place. She was later arrested but still, this small action had huge ramifications for the black community. Only 3 days later, the Montgomery bus boycott occurred; 40,000 blacks refused to take the bus. As a result, the authorities were forced to make appropriate changes. By questioning the authority, Rosa Park took in important step in fighting the segregation of blacks in the United States.
Gandhi believed in civil disobedience or the refusal to follow unjust laws. He believed that through non violent protest he could make the British grant independence for India. One law that Gandhi thought was particularly unfair was the prohibition of Indians to sell salt. So, through civil disobedience, Gandhi marched to the sea with several thousands of avid followers, picked up some salt, which he was not allowed to do, and sold it on a local market. This rebellious action against the government inspired many other Indians to do the same. So by questioning the authorities, Gandhi set into motion events that would lead to an independent India.
To conclude, after a careful analysis of the American revolution, of Rosa Park’s refusal to listen to bus driver and of Gandhi’s civil disobediences, we can clearly see that it is important to question our leaders to ensure that they are governing in an equitable or egalitarian way.</p>

<p>ThesisQuestioning authority is something that needs to be done in order to know wether or not the leaders are being fair and just.</p>

<p>This isn’t actually the thesis that you wanted to write on. The thesis that you actually wanted to write on appeared as the last sentence in your conclusion:</p>

<p>“It is important to question our leaders to ensure that they are governing in an equitable or egalitarian way.”</p>

<p>This should be the first sentence of your essay.</p>

<p>It is getting closer to a 5/6, but it’s still a 4/6 IMO due to limited grammar and examples that have been beaten to death.</p>

<p>Prompt: What is your view of the idea that every obstacle can be turned into and opportunity? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. </p>

<p>Obstacles, as referred by many, are hindrances in one’s path to achieving their goal. However, there could be various interpretations of the term, considering the various aspects one takes on it. Pessimists would define the obstacles as an obstruction, whereas optimists, like me, would view it as an opportunity to grow. Personally, I believe that every hurdle a man overcomes is a leap to the next step towards one’s aim. </p>

<p>Consider the account of J.K. Rowling; as she finished her first novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Rowling had met with several criticisms with regards to the plot of the story. The book was rejected by several publishers at that time; however the rejections only motivated her more into having the book published. She accepted the criticisms as a test for her dedication. Her view towards her obstacles resulted in an award winning, best-selling novel series until date.
Another example would be that of Walt Disney. Walt worked as a cartoonist for a local newspaper, “Kansas City Star.” He was sacked because of his “lack of creativity.” This wasn’t the end of his problems; he started another business which drove into bankruptcy. However these tragedies only pulled him up to start over. As J.K Rowling did, he too viewed his miseries as tests to stand up and climb towards his goals again. Today, he is known for the international award winning cartoon shows. </p>

<p>“I didn’t fail. I just found 10,000 ways that won’t work,” said another man who turned his obstacle into an opportunity to learn from his mistakes. Thomas Alva Edison, the inventor of the light bulb, too, failed several times in making the light bulb. Nevertheless, he did not give up; he continued to materialize his ideas. Because of his will to achieve his goal, we enjoy the benefits of light, and also methods one should avoid in reproducing his invention. </p>

<p>In a nutshell, we see how J.K. Rowling, Walt Disney and Thomas Edison’s perspective towards an obstacle brought them towards their goal with a stronger motivation. Similarly, this notion could be implemented in our daily errands, for example, as the work load increases, we could always believe in the opportunity of perfecting one’s technique and efficiency in that task.</p>

<p>Hello! I’m an international student and this was my first attempt at writing SAT essay. I’d be really grateful for grading it! Thank you in advance!</p>

<p>Prompt: </p>

<p>We often hear that we can learn much about someone or something just by casual observation.
We are not required to look beneath the surface or to question how something seems. In fact, we are urged to trust our impressions, often our first impressions, of how a person or a situation seems to be. Yet appearances can be misleading. What “seems” isn’t always what is.</p>

<p>Assignment: Is the way something seems to be not always the same as it actually is? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations. </p>

<p>MY ESSAY:</p>

<p>Many people tend to look at things superficially without getting a deeper insight into them. However, a famous proverb says, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” In other words, the way something seems to be is not always the same as it actually is. This concept is illustrated throughout literature, technology and personal experience.</p>

<p>One compelling example of how casual observation may lead us into false perception of reality is the life of Helen Keller. A famous American writer and activist lost her sight and hearing at a very young age. Consequently, the impossibility to fully communicate made people think of her as a person with limited intellectual ability. However, it was not true for Anne Sullivan, who discovered that Helen reasoning was exactly the same as in the case of a person without any disorders. Sullivan taught Keller to speak and read, which eventually resulted in her becoming the first deaf blind person to earn a Bachelor degree. Their example may serve as a remainder so as not to form our beliefs relying on first impressions.</p>

<p>Another credible example of the idea that we should not be urged to trust our first impressions was the American entrepreneur and inventor Steve Jobs. His youth was riddled with frustration over formal schooling. It came to the point when his teachers needed to bribe him to study. Therefore, no one expected Jobs to become a world-renowned CEO of Apple Inc. However, he proved to be an extremely talented technologist whose devotion to computers enabled millions of people around the world to interact using his sophisticated products. Jobs is a prime example of the fact that we should look beneath the surface to learn the truth about someone or something.</p>

<p>A final illustration of the fact that appearances can be misleading is shown in my personal experience. In my second year of high school a new student called Susan joined our class. Despite our tremendous efforts to make her feel comfortable in the new environment, she eschewed every single attempt we made to help her. Consequently, my class started to perceive her as a selfish person, unwilling to cooperate in a group. It was not until the end of the first term that we finally found out the reason for her unusual behavior. Sadly, the girl had experienced hardship in her previous school where she was awfully treated by her fellow classmates. As a result, she was afraid of creating closer relationships with anyone in our class. Only after a long talk with Susan she became more open and soon turned out to be an extremely fascinating human being. Her example taught us not to judge people too quickly.</p>

<p>As we have seen in these literary, technological and personal experience examples, we may often misjudge a person by relying on the first impression. It is worth remembering that things are usually different from what they seem to be. As Anne Wilson once said: ‘’Don’t let your perfunctory look cover the truth about a person.”</p>

<p>This is the 5th essay I have written for the SAT so far. Please tell me what is done well and what can be improved! Thanks!</p>

<p>Is the way something seems to be not always the same as it actually is?</p>

<p>The manipulation of appearances can affect how we perceive reality. This is made apparent through examples such as Othello, where the antagonist, Iago, conveniently misleads everyone in the play or in the enron scandal where executives had used a serie of elaborate schemes to trick investors into believing their company was doing well.</p>

<pre><code>As demonstrated by the cunning actions of Iago, appearances often differ from reality. Through the poison of his words, Iago was able to convince Othello that his wife was cheating on him with his lieutant Cassio. To achieve this feat, Iago had to deftly manipulate appearances in order to influence Othello’s perception of reality. Iago used Othello’s jealous nature in order to make him fall from grace, that is, he fed him with lies to make him believe there was something going on between Cassio and Desdemona. Furthermore, Iago used Othello’s handkerchief to stir jealous feelings within the moor. He placed it in a way that made it seem like Desdemona had left it Cassio’s possession. Themes of trickery, deceit and appearances versus reality are present throughout the play exemplifying how appearances and reality can be very different.

As shown by the Enron scandal of 2001, appearances do not always convey a true sense of what is really happening. In October 2001, the financial world had its on the enron corporation, which is a huge energy company in the US. At that time, it was revealed that the company had billions of dollars of debt and was, contrary to appearances, not doing so well. Keneth Lay, the founder of the company, along with other top executives used several different financial schemes to belie the company’s financial status. Investors were flabbergasted when the value of the Enron stock severely plummetted. The enron corporation was forced to declare bankruptcy after its use of sly methods to hide billions of dollars of debt was discovered. This was one of the biggest bankruptcy cases of all time in the United States. As we can see, although the Texas based energy company appeared to be doing well, it really wasn’t which is even more proof that appearances can be misleading.

To conclude, after a careful analysis of Iago from Othello and the enron scandal we can easily see that appearances can fail to give an accurate description of what is really happening. Both examples previously explained showed how the manipulation of facts alter our perception of reality.

<p>Assignment : Is censorship sometimes justified ?</p>

<p>My Essay (I typed it exactly as i wrote it , even though i noticed the grammatical errors)-</p>

<p>Censorship is by definition , a violation of a person’s free will . It denies him the basic right to express his opinion and watch or read what he wants to .
In any typical family , parents do not want children to be exposed to explicit content . But in restricting them from doing so , they only increase their curiosity and likelihood of the children to explore it themselves . This leads to a gap between the parents and children in terms of communication which is exacerbated with secrecy and rebellion .
If parents gave the children all the information on the content they don’t want them watching , and explain why they should not be watching it , it will lead to trust and understanding in the family , and won’t leave the children confused .
In the past , monarchies and dictatorships used censorship as an effective tool to restrict the public to information on the working and administration of the government .
In this way , the public would remain ignorant and the oppressors would rule over them without much conflict . This idea , might be temporarily effective ,but it never works out in the long run , and is against the spirit of democracy.
The effect of censorship is felt by people today as well . The People’s Republic of North Korea is ruled over by the oppressor Kim Jong Un , who has completely restricted the freedom of the citizens .One example is that the internet is not accessible to the public . This can cause many consequences . North Korea will be far behind compared to the rest of the world in terms of technology and development and its citizens are pushed back in time , having to put much more effort for everyday tasks which could otherwise be simplified with technology .
Therefore, upon consideration of censorship in the past , today , as well as in homes everywhere , it is seen that it causes more harm than it intends to prevent .
Censorship is effective only on a temporary basis and only exacerbates the situation in the long run</p>

<p>Your essay would probably have received a score of 1 or 2 out of 6. The first obvious problem you need to work is grammar. Take 1 or 2 minutes after you finished writing your essay to make sure you didn’t make any silly mistakes. Secondly, you need a stronger thesis. Try to follow this template.</p>

<p><restate the="" prompt="" in="" your="" own="" words=""> + <disagree or="" agree="" with="" the="" prompt=""> + <explain why="" you="" agree="" or="" disagree="" with="" the="" prompt=""></explain></disagree></restate></p>

<p>Also, i would suggest adding a sentence at the end of your examples to tie them back to your thesis (That is explain why they are relevant to the issue at hand). Finally, your essay is a little short. Try to fill up the entire 2 pages you are given during the exam.</p>

<p>Grade mine please?</p>

I’m writing the SAT in May ,could you give me some advice on how to improve my essay ?</p>

<p>@NikhilPrabhu </p>

<p>The first thing I think i think you should do is read this thread.
<a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/645763-how-write-12-essay-just-10-days.html[/url]”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/645763-how-write-12-essay-just-10-days.html&lt;/a&gt;
The advice given in that thread is probably the best you will ever find.
Second thing to do is to practice, practice and practice.</p>

<p>Using feedback from the last essay I posted on CC I’ve written a new one with a new prompt. </p>

<p>Question: Is it important to question the ideas and decisions of people in positions of authority?</p>

<p>Essay:</p>

<p>In the 20th century, the doctrines of famous authoritarian governments claimed that the ideal citizen is one that is faithfully obedient. He does not ask questions. He does not challenge authority. And most importantly he never disagrees with those above him. However, it did not take long for it to become apparent that in contemporary society, the questioning of authority is of the utmost importance because it allows for injustice to be purged from the world around us. </p>

<p>In the novel Little Brother by Corey Docktorow, Marcus Yallow is a regular citizen of the United States. He is proud of his country and initially believes that his government is the epitome of just authority. However, he is later on detained by the USA’s own Department of Homeland Security and after being tortured for days, his opinions change. He chooses to question authority because he believes that the Department of Homeland Security is incorrect in their belief that security should be prioritized over the wellbeing of a country’s people. Thus, he leads local rebellion and casts the media’s attention on the doings of the DHS through his computer-related talents. By the end of the novel, the authority of the DHS is nonexistant, and they undergo an audit by the US government for their questionable actions. By challenging the authority of a system that he once thought was just, Marcus Yallow changes it for the better by exposing it’s faults.</p>

<p>Similarly in the 1970’s my home country Iran underwent a revolution. The power Shah Reza, an Iranian king whose family had been exploiting the country for decades was questioned by its people, who were highly religious and disagreed that with the Shah’s belief that all countries should be westernized. In 1963, the Shah had used his authority to pass the controversial “Immunity Doctrine” that gave Westerners the right of extraterritoriality when visiting Iran.* Abused and betrayed, the people of Iran, including my parents, undertook a revolution to put power back in the hands of the people. Despite years of bloody protests and the torture of revolutionaries by the SAVAK, the Shah’s secret police, the Shah was eventually overthrown. Then, when a vote was cast, it was discovered that 99.8% of the people were for the foundation of theocracy in Iran, my parents included. Revolutionaries like my parents saw their friends and family tortured and executed for their beliefs, but it was for the greater good because an entire country was liberated from the hands of a dictator.</p>

<p>Challenging authority may seem like a dangerous and risky affair and that it is because it is. But this does not mean that it is not essential. If people do not question the ideas and decisions of those in power, there will never be change. Thus, in order to make a system more fair and improve the conditions of its people’s lives, there is in fact nothing more important that the questioning and challenging of authority.</p>

<hr>

<p>*Made this up</p>

<p>I think this overall went better than the last one, although there are still some errors b/c I didn’t have time to proofread.</p>

<p>Assignment : Do you need knowledge of the past to fully understand the present ?</p>

<p>My Essay -
A Knowledge of the past is a necessary part of everyone’s lives as it influences our actions today in every way possible . Evidence of this can be seen in literature as well as history</p>

<p>In Terry Pratchett’s " Making Money ", Moist Von Lipwig is a former conman who has been assigned the role of bank manager of the Royal Mint by the Patrician of Ankh-Morpork .Despite his relinquishment of his former ways and his succes as post master general , the patrician notices that during a meeting with him , Moist still steals his secretary’s pencil . Character is something that is built over time , and here it is seen that despite his fame and success , he still feels empowered in deception . Another point to support this is that Moist utilizes his eloquence and conniving behavior in gaining success in his new job , in a similar way to how he conned money off people in the past .</p>

<p>Another example is that of Arthur Dent in the book “So long … And thanks for the fish” . In this book , Arthur is back on earth after many perilous escapades across the galaxy which he unwillingly endured . He now wishes to forget the past eight years of his life in the galaxy and resume his normal uneventful life at home . Yet he feels haunted by his memories of his travels and cannot get it out of his mind , no matter how hard he tries ,and ends up going on yet another adventure across the galaxy .</p>

<p>In the book " The Lord of The Rings " , Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who , after many years of peace in the Shire decides to go on a final journey to Rivendell . In the previous book he was a nonchalant person who did not have any problem staying in Rivendell for the rest of his life . But such a glorious and breathtaking adventure ,which he participated in , had a massive effect on Bilbo ,who now has no regrets and wants to go back and do it all over again.</p>

<p>Even in today’s society , our cultures and people are highly influenced by our past . The caste system in India is a scar in its rich history and its effects are stil felt today . With this information , it can be understood why discrimination and honour killings are still rampant in modern India . </p>

<p>From the examples in literature and that of the caste system ,it is seen that knowledge of the past is indeed necessary to understand the present.</p>

<p>Think carefully about the issue presented in the following excerpt and the assignment below.
People often focus on “the details,” those seemingly minor features and elements that often have major effects or consequences. Whether they are making ordinary, everyday decisions, analyzing historical events, or enjoying the plot of a novel, many people consider the details to be all-important. Others, however, argue that paying attention to details distracts people from the big picture—perceiving an idea, goal, or plan in its entirety.
Assignment: Is it a disadvantage to pay attention to details? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.
Pay attention to detail is not a disadvantage. Detail is the conclusive element of success. Without consideration of details, the plans and goals are only on paper. By ignoring diminutive details, the serious problem can be caused. Details always make people feel more accuracy and credibility.
When people make plans and goals, an overall goal will be set up fit. Then people will put it into small group of details, such as the solid work of every day. Without doing this, the plans will not be practical. Therefore, it’s an advantage to consider details.
In addition, those seemingly minor details that often have major effects or consequences. When engineer design a software, an ignoring of a byte of data can cause the software stop running. Therefore, pay attention to details is an advantage.
Furthermore, the details always give people more convention and make them feel more accuracy and credibility. When big companies promote their products, they always try to include as much as possible details as they can. Those details may seemingly minor, but when people look at it, it will make a big difference. People will believe the authority of the products in the field easier. Those details could also help the companies to sell their goods. Therefore, it’s advantage to pay attention to details.
Without a doubt, to pay attention to details is not a disadvantage. Details can make plans more practical, avoid making serious consequences and give people convention. Thinking about is helpful whatever what are people going to do.</p>

Assignment - What must we do to truly understand ourselves ?
Essay -
The idea of understanding oneself is a vague one, and the process to such self actualization seems even more vague . However, it can be done. New experiences shed light on things one never knew about oneself and this helps him to understand himself . Evidence of this is seen in the life of Apple’s founder Steve Jobs , in the movie ‘Django Unchained’ , and in the story of Bilbo Baggins .
Apple’s founder Steve Jobs is a good example of a person who seemed at peace with himself, and self actualized . During his youth , he went to college , even though it was very expensive and did not seem to hold many benefits to him .Subsequently, he quit after a year, as he felt it was a waste of money . This decision unencumbered him to pursue his real passions, as well as hobbies he was interested in , and it was this decision that led him to start the now billion dollar company Apple. The time that he took for himself after quitting college was the factor that helped him understand what he really wanted to do.
Just as new experiences helped Steve jobs become what he was , a similar example can be taken from the movie ‘Django Unchained’ . In the movie , Django was a slave in the years before the Civil War .he had his freedom , and basic rights taken away from him , as well as his beloved wife . The torture and tribulations he and his wife had to go through was an enlightening experience for him . He finally decided that what was happening to his people was wrong and decided to take a stand for it . He did this by freeing his wife from the clutches of her master , killing him and escaping ; his acts lighting the fire of what would become the Civil War .

It helps a person to understand his as well as other’s perspectives in a better way and see them in a different light . This formulates a stronger and more resolute opinion of one’s perspective of the world , and ultimately oneself .</p>
