Freshman Dorms?

Can someone post pictures of the non-honors freshman dorms?

I remember a couple of years ago there was a poster who posted several photos in one thread of the campus including some of the dorms. You might try googling: "Maxiumus" and "photo" and see if that brings that thread up. Most were probably taken from the website (haven't checked it lately for dorm pictures since S is now a soph but they used to have a "virtual tour" that I thought also included the dorms)

Virtual Tour

This room is similar to what my son has in Stetson West, just the layout is different. Where you see the red chair is likely where you would put a microfridge. There is no room for any additional furniture - none.

You can fit plastic storage drawers under your bed (3, I think), and if you drag your mouse up on the screen you will see cabinets near the ceiling. They hold a lot of stuff, but you will have to stand on your desk chair to access the space if you are short.

Question. Isn't there any doors on the closet? Do most people hang something there to hide the mess, or just leave it open?

Haha nope, no doors. But yea, most people just leave it open.

seems just about all the girls get an expandable shower rod and hang a curtain / some type of fabric to cover their closet... the guys usually don't care and leave it open

Last yr S and his roommate rented one of those combo microwave/refrigerators and put it in one of the closets.

Your son was lucky. My son and his roommate have only one closet in their room. In fact, the only place for their flat screen TV was duct taped to the top of the microfridge. :)

I cannot fathom my daughter sharing a closet with a roommate.
That would not be a good thing.

does anyone know what the new west village F dorms are like? and what is the best dorm for a pharmacy major?

lje, that's probably why there are two guys in the room. :) Son just shrugged when I pointed out the one closet.

scansmom- just wondering if you have any idea how much the microfrdige rental was? or where i could find out?

WVF has a really nice lobby and elevators. Most rooms are 6 people and have a pretty big kitchen with a full fridge, oven/stove, sink, and garbage disposal. There is a living room that comes with a couch and 2 one seater couches, a table, and 4 chairs. There are 3 bed rooms that are bigger than any other freshman housing on campus. Then there are two sinks with a huge mirror in front of them and on the sides are two doors that lead to a toilet and a shower in each. Some rooms have 4 people and are what I just described except there are only two bedrooms and 1 bathroom.

Then there are duplexes. If you are lucky enough, you may get a 2 story room that has a bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and HUGE living room that extends up two floors on the first floor. Then there are two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs.

Wow it sounds pretty good. Would you recommend it? or is there a better dorm to meet people?

Oh and is WVF co-ed for the suites? Or is it all boys suite and all girls suite? ^^

Re the microfridge, I think we received something about it in the housing info NEU sent us after S had accepted. S split the cost with his roommate and I believe it was around $100 each for the year (I think they sell for about $300-$400 but since we are OOS and students live in suites after the first yr it wasn't worth it for us to purchase one). There is a link on NEU's website to the vendor's site (which indicates they are no longer accepting orders for rentals to NEU but that is probably just for this year and they haven't started taking orders for next year yet):

and just an fyi: WVF is freshmen honors housing only and there is no other freshmen housing in West Village. The majority of the freshmen are in one of the Stetson halls which are just typical dorm rooms not suites; both Stetson halls are only freshmen so these are both good dorms to be in to meet other freshmen, and these two dorms also house NEU's two dining halls.

Oh and all the dorm buildings are co-ed, but there are no co-ed rooms or suites.
