Any idea of a listing of colleges that do not consider HS freshman year grades in the application process.
I am looking for first tier universities.

I believe Princeton and U Michigan do not consider HS freshman grades.

I think Stanford doesn't look at Freshman grades either...but that's a guess.

Alexandre,
I believe you are correct about Stanford.

BOO i got straight 4's freshman year and just started deteriorating from there. (deteriorating, but not THAT bad)....what do u think michigan will think of a 3.84 uw school gpa, that unfortunately becomes a 3.67 michigan gpa? will i still be looked at as a 3.8 ISH applicant or not really

Yeah i did better freshman year too. Hopefully they will look and see that they are a little bit better. I think it is bull that they don't look at your freshman year scores. Life doesn't have trans. years esp. in business. You just have to jump in and try to swim I can't believe that such prest. universities like Mich and Stanford dont' realize this. If you only had 3 years in hs b/c of yr school sys then just look at the 3 years and my 4.

actually 2 years - they usually don't see sr grades until you're in

PinkPanther, Michigan will regard you as a 3.7 student. That is neitgher good nor bad. What will determine your chances is what sort of classes did you take (APs, Honors or easy classes), class rank, SAT/ACT score etc...

RC, the reason schools like Michigan, Princeton and Stanford choose to ignore Freshmen grades is because they wish to reward students with upward progress. They realize that many good students today were not necessarily mature when they were 13 or 14 years old. However, it makes not sense to reward a student for being merely good today when they were awesome when they were 13 or 14 years old.
