Freshmen at UPenn in Wharton here to ANSWER QUESTIONS

How is the minority population? Is it a diverse school or are there mostly white people?

Do you think econ majors from Penn can take courses at Wharton? And do they also get recruited a lot, or do only people from Wharton get good jobs?

What is the core curriculum for Penn (not wharton).

Other Apps (quicker list): Pitt, Yale, Cornell, Georgetown, Wisconsin, Case

a took ap calc ab in highschool
i could have taken either 103 or 104 but i figured i mine as well have an easy class get an easy a and take 104 next semester.

penn's minority population is very large and diverse. there are people from differenc nationalities all over campus i would not say it is mostly white people. penns website can give you more info on teh exact numbers

also any student can take any classs offered at penn so econ majors at hte college can take wharton classes.

econ majors are well respected and recruited.

there is no set core curriculum at penn. in the college there is just a certain set of sectors that you must fulfiill..... these are broad and have a lot of choices of classes within them

its really easy to get downtown. we are on 33 street so sometiems you can walk down town if you dont mind.... a cab works but it is a couple bucks. public trans is prob the best its a buck 25 to get on a train or a subway and they take you downtown or wherever. you can scalp eagles tickets if you are willing to spend the money, other than taht htey are hard to get

just a hint of advice. send your apps in early

like how early?

What do you mean? How early? I'm planning to send mine in the week of Nov. 1st (probably a few days earlier but no more than a week before Nov. 1st). Is this bad? Do I have some sort of advantage? Is there something you aren't telling us.. lol..

well i cant say anything specific, but if i were you i would send my app in as soon as i could get it done :)

why? they don't look at them until 8 Nov, i thought :?

do you know how many applications penn gets????
think about it would you like to read the last one????
i have spoken to admissions personal.... trust me they arent in a good mood reading teh last ones

Doesn't the regional representative or whatever read them first? How does the Penn admissions process work exactly? Can anyone give a brief (or specific) overview? Thanks

im not sure the exact process. i have spoken to many admissions officers since i have been here.

i cant offer much info besides just saying, if you can turn your app in early DO IT. (you learn lots of admissions tricks when you get here)

How early is early? The deadline is 2 weeks away, and I still have my other essay to complete and the short answers to finish. I expect to finish them this weekend.

early is just before the deadline. there ar a lot of hints and tips to have a better chance of getting in. one of them is to apply as early as you can. it is of course up to you, but i got in

has anyone sent in their application?

I haven't even fill out mine

Submit your applications online electronically.
do not handwrite and mail your application. we live in a world of technology and the internet. everything at penn is done electronically and through email. be smart do your application that way
