From 1730 to 2000+

Ppl help me out.....i gave the sat in Dec 07 nd got 1730....

CR 530
WR 560
M 640

Help me out.....i will be giving the SAT in Nov 08 or Dec 08.....so i have a lot ov time for prep.....plz tell me which books should I use to get a 2000+ score.....cuz thats what I desperately need to get into a good college!!

P.S: I prepared for only abt 2-3 weeks and didnt do lot ov 'timed' practiced tests so the major problem with me was time management (i skipped a LOT OV questions on the exam day!!) otherwise i mostly got 1900-2200 in the practice tests i did....

Use the Blue Book, and more importantly...take timed tests! And lots of them!

BB is a must. I also recommend Rocket Review for strategy.

do you seriously not know how to spell "of"?

hahahahaha

lmao, just noticed that

My SAT score jumped from a 1690 to a 1990 when I used the Gruber book. On my ACT, I then got a 32, which is roughly a 2130. It helped me....A LOT. That's a little over a 400 point increase!

Went from 1610 to 2100.

Studied during the summer. I think I could have done even better.

Barron's SAT 2400 book!
I got a 2170 the first time so I don't know what to compare it to.
But I do remember on the PSAT I scored a 63 on the Critical Reading section (so my projected score was about a 630) and I ended up scoring an 800. It had great strategies in there for that section, and the other sections as well.

162 to 2120

I managed to get my CR score and Math score to my expectation, but the writing score killed me.

You know what, there are hundreds of strat books from various companies, such as PR, Barron's, Kaplan, etc, but I would not completely rely on them. They each have different strats offered. Best way is to develop your own strat while solving numerous practice problems / tests.

I went from a 1680 to a 2150.
Its important to do a lot of timed practice tests, and I highly recommend the strategies in the PR book.

164 -> 2150

Just take a million practice tests, and see what you miss, and don't make the same mistake next time.

How about the Kaplan SAT 2400?....has anyone used that?....

Yup i've heard a lot abt the Barron's SAT 2400.....any praises for that book??

164 -> 1980. And as you've seen, you can do even better than how I did.

yea get the barrons 2400, I raised my score from a 1170 to a 2350.
Studied like 4.5 hours a day for a year.

are u serious thats a little too much (4.5 hours a day for a year)

lol, if you have a lot of time i'd recommend Gruber's. i've heard from ppl that it's useful for long-term studying.

yeah that's a lot, but it's a big difference, and if it changed his/her life (ie got her into a good school), and he/she's happy, it should be worth it?
