Hey, I’m studying microbiology in the University of Puerto Rico. For obvious reasons I want to move from this island (Maria). My entire family is in New Jersey, so I’m alone here. I have an associate degree in chemistry and graduated with a 3.72 GPA and I have a 3.58 right now, which is the lowest GPA I’ve had in my life! I have a few W’s, because I had to leave on my first semester for economical reasons. Also, we went on a 2 month riot last semester and that’s why my GPA is so low. I had to drop two classes. I got a D on a calculus class and I had to take it again (Got a good grade). I want to go to the NB school and I’d like to study micro or biology. I speak spanish, english and I know ASL. Do you think I have a chance. Also, could I be considered in-state, because my family lives there? Please Help!
Who lives there? Your parents? Then yes, you would be in state.
Is the university functioning right now? If not, ask for an extended leave of absence, move to New Jersey, and get started on your life there. You can talk with the folks at Rutgers and the other in-state public universities after you are settled.
Wishing you all the best.
Yes. My mom lives there, but it hasnt been a year, so I guess I’ll have to pay out of state tuition. Oh well, I don’t even know if I’ll get in anyway.
By the time you get to NJ, get settled, apply, and are admitted, it might be possible that your mom will have been there for a year. If you do have to pay OOS tuition for one term, make certain thatt you can change to in state status as soon as that year is up.
