Future undergrand freshman with questions!

If I attend one of the 6 colleges, will it affect what majors I can pick? For example if I pick science and society, will all the other majors that I could apply to if I picked Human development be available?

Which Quad is the most active in terms of sociability?

Do all quads have cooking areas and if so where are they located?

Do all quads have an available gym for use?

is there a way you can get to the university without crossing the george washington bridge? like a ferrie or something?

Tappan Zee bridge? Why don’t you want to cross GW bridge if you don’t mind me asking?

The only Ferry sevice that makes sense to Stonybrook is to take the cross sound ferry from Bridgeport CT to Port Jefferson LI. The campus is a 10 Minute drive from Port Jeff Village Ferry terminal.

the traffic. I don’t want the backups.

thanks NYFlatFoot, that’s great. I’m coming from upstate new york.

No, your undergraduate college will not affect your ability to choose majors.

Either Tabler or Kelly, depending on the type of people you hang out with

With the exception of James, Irving, Gershwin and Hand Colleges, all buildings have a cooking area located in the basement of the building. The excluded have kitchens either at the end of the hall in corridor buildings or in the common room in suite buildings.

All Quads have their own gyms. They’re located in Benedict, O’Neill, Mount, Dreiser, Greeley, Schick and West Commons. There is also a gym located in the Indoor Sports Complex and the SAC. They’re also building a new campus recreation building.

If you’re coming from west of I-81, it wouldn’t make sense to take the PJ Ferry. The ferry goes pretty far out of the way and actually takes longer than the traffic in NY, assuming that you don’t go during peak rush hours. Also, the ferry is fairly expensive.
