Hi im a student at a JC. I was told that if i complete IGETC, i would have completed Cal's GE requirements. But that sounds almost too easy cuz im a math major so they only require 8 upper div math courses to graduate.(http://math.berkeley.edu/undergraduate_major_requirements.html) This implies that i only need to take 2 classes per semester. Could there possibly be upper div GE that needs to be fulfilled? If it helps;math is in the L&S department.

L&S requires that you take 6 units of upper division classes outside of your major. You also have to take an American Cultures class, but there are tons of options for that. Beyond those requirements, I'm pretty sure you are in the clear. Just take classes that interest you or do a minor to fill in those extra units.

@student14x: I completed IGETC, but I don't meet the U.S History and Institution for Cal. I took Asian History and Women History to meet the IGETC requirement, and I had Psychology instead of taking Political Science. Even though the classes I took satisfy the IGETC requirement, they are not really applied for Cal. I was dumb that I didn't take that into consideration. If I had taken American History and Political Science, I would have met the U.S History and Institution for Cal now.
I tell you this so that you can choose the right classes for your IGETC. You see in the IGETC required classes, we have many options to choose the courses. However, not all of them meet the GE Cal requirements.
By the way, I'm a math major too. I'm so worried about my first semester at Cal. I am not well-prepared for upper division math. I suck at writing proofs, and I'm still working to improve that. Good luck to you.

haha
that is really good coment
