I don’t understand. Rejected ~ 1890 SAT, my school doesn’t have a GPA thing but I think mine would be 3.8-ish, lots average ECs (maybe this was why). Kinda bummed bc I really liked GWU :frowning:

Might be going to AU this fall.

does anybody know how to check the financial aid available? it asks me to enter my GWID and PIN but I have never set my PIN before if I remember it correctly… does anybody have an opinion about this?

@901110 Your PIN is your DOB xx/xx/xx

thanks so much! it worked

Rejected… Sigh… Am I the only one that feels that the amount of effort they put into taking college level courses and basically dedicating their lives to EC’s was a total waste during this whole college admissions process?

Hey guys, accepted with Presidential Academic Scholarship (which is surprising because I’m an international) to the College of Arts and Sciences (undecided).
Good luck to everyone!

@npisani26 My daughter applied “test optional”. Here are some of her EC’s/highlights:

She attends a full IB private school (4.16 W GPA). Class president, school ambassador, Model UN, leads school choir and dance team.

Classically trained violinist (will play at Carnegie Hall in April as a member of her orchestra. (Has won several music awards both in/out of school)

Published articles regarding international affairs

Governing board member of philanthropic
organization which lobbies/advocates for low income families.

American Legion Girls State Delegate (elected to lead one of the party’s)

Wellesley College Book Award recipient.

Has won several leadership awards in/out of school.

Has acted in several plays/musicals both in/out of school.

Her essays where excellent as mentioned in her University Honors Program acceptance letter.

Was selected to attend a highly selective foreign affairs summer program as a rising junior.

GW going test optional was the only way she applied.

@901110 You are very welcome

Accepted into the political communication program! I did receive a scholarship, but it wasn’t quite enough. I’ve heard that GW is pretty good about working with you with financial aid, does anyone know if this is true and any tips for contacting them and asking for some help/aid?

Got in to Elliot School of International Affairs!
No aid though
With SU, American and now GWU I’m gonna have a hard time on the selection phase

Waitlisted-- poli Sci 1940 SAT 3.8 GPA, Excellent EC’s (class pres, officer of 5 different clubs, member of 10 clubs/organizations, District champs swim team, track, dance team, 2 part-time jobs, intern for a US congressional campaign, con law summer class at Georgetown, summer program through the Eisenhower Institute), family connection (my sister is currently a student), great recs, great essays(at least I thought), I also play the cello, sing in the choir, and am part of a musical theater group directed by a retired Broadway star
Very dissapointed!
Hoping for the best but not too optimistic because I need financial assistance and GW doesn’t have a good rep with accepting waitlisted students who can’t pay full tuition!

You emailed them for the ID because you weren’t getting any emails from the university right? I have not received any emails whatsoever from GW since I submitted my application in January. I’m really worried that they never got my application! I emailed admission tonight, hopefully they will get back to me soon. @SippinCoffee

Accepted arts and sciences with 37,700 in scholarships/“free” money (I don’t include loans or work study in my estimated cost). 1420 CR/M, 4.0 GPA, decent extracurriculars and essays. Unfortunately all of the schools I’m accepted to are costing roughly the same, so I’m not sure if I’ll attend GW or not.

I was rejected but invited to join the Paris Scholars’ program and then subsequently be placed at GWU sophomore year (following a year abroad). Does every rejected student receive this offer? Unsure of if this is an outright rejection or a “conditional acceptance.”

BTW - 27 ACT, 3.8 GPA, full IB curriculum, strong essays/recs/ECs.

Sorta disappointed… 3.89 gpa, 31 ACT, 2100 SAT really good essays, but I have to admit that I did not “demonstrate” my LOVE of the school, mostly because it was not even on my radar. I guess they really take that part into account.

My admission status still says ‘under review’ -anyone else having the same problem?

Mine says under review too, even though I already received an email congratulating me for my admission
