***GEORGETOWN 2020 WAITLIST THREAD***

@NickDS I’ll contact my college counselor at school about it. According to the sheet that was in our waitlist letters, there have been some years when Georgetown did not take anyone from the waitlist, at least at certain schools.

@NickDS @businessg101 I really wouldn’t worry too much about it. Stressing won’t solve anything, nor pass the time faster. We know that there are fewer spots for more applicants this year, so these must be especially tough decisions. I do not envy the tough choices these counselors have to make, and to make matters more stressful for them, they have so little time to do it! They have a ridiculously heavy workload on top of all that. My advice is to keep busy and stay sane

Anyone hear anything? Maybe they aren’t taking people off … :frowning:

I find it hard to believe that all four schools wouldn’t go to their wait list. Maybe they are doing it differently this year?

They will definitely be taking students off the wait list. Georgetown purposely under admits students (based on projected yield) because of a city ordinance with Washington D.C. that purposely limits the # of students that can live on campus annually. So, if you look at Georgetown’s history, they are typically pulling 80-120 kids from the wait list every year. No reason to believe this year will be any different.

Also, some good news is that Stanford is pulling kids from its wait list this year (and may take 50-75!), which is unusual for them (they’ve pulled 7 kids from the wait list over the past 3 years, combined!). This helps free up spots at universities like Georgetown for additional kids to be pulled up!

Do you think we’ll hear tomorrow? I hate this waiting… Also my admissions rep didn’t email me back when I sent my 2 updates.

mine only emailed me back once but she did email my teacher back when she sent in a letter of recommendation and she had called my school as well asking if I had applied to be a maguire scholar. So no worries! they get our things but sometimes don’t reply.

so weird that no one has heard back

@NickDS I got a call today around 5:30 Eastern telling me that I was highly considered on the waitlist and that he would be calling me at 10:30 Eastern tomorrow to let me know if I am off the waitlist or not. He asked if I would definitely enroll in the Class of 2020, and I told him without a doubt. Do you guys think I’m in??

@padrelover What school did you apply to? The college or SFS?

Congrats @padrelover! It definitely sounds like you are in! Was it your regional admissions counselor who called? Do you remember his name? Just curious. Congrats again!

@padrelover did you send in a wait list interest update letter before?

@northstarfx @yellowfade It was my regional counselor - Bruce Chamberlin. I sent in an update letter, got a rec from my school president (it’s a Jesuit school, so he’s a Jesuit as well), and sent a copy of my sample Valedictorian speech that I gave to my school’s graduation committee, and an email directly to Bruce expressing my interest and confirming that they received all of my papers and telling him that I had been chosen as Valedictorian (our school does not select it based on solely GPA). Let’s just say I really wanted to get in.

For which school? congrats

@businessg101 College - Spanish Major

Congratz man! Have you gotten the call? What do they say?

Congratulations! Has anyone else heard from their officers?

Wow, congrats!! That’s great

I’m officially in! Go Hoyas!!!

Congrats!!!
