***GEORGETOWN 2021 WAITLIST THREAD***

Has anyone called Georgetown to inquire about the EWL to see if its over yet?

It’s not over just yet. I just received a call today from an officer of admissions letting me know that I was a strong candidate being considered for one of the very few spots for EWL (I applied for Georgetown College). The officer of admission wanted to confirm that I was still very interested and if I were admitted off the wait list, what are the chances I would deposit. I let her know I was still interested and am very likely to accept, but I would confirm with my parents. I will call her tomorrow to say that I am certain I would deposit.

Congrats to you @NoVakid99!!!

Thank you! I was told today I will be offered admission!

Has anyone received a rejection yet? And for those of us who haven’t heard anything, should we expect some kind of notification by mail or email?

I thought the college said we would hear either way from them by June 30th. I haven’t received a letter in the mail or an email. I also had heard that colleges have to notify all students by June 30th of acceptance. Does anyone know if that is even true?

They did say that we would hear anytime before June 30th. As for it being a rule, I don’t think so.

Do you think they only contacted students who were accepted and they won’t be contacting in any way students who weren’t accepted?

I’m pretty sure all regular waitlisted applicants were notified whether they were accepted, rejected, or extended waitlisted, so I don’t have any reason to think they wouldn’t do the same for a smaller pool of students.

This is brutul! I was really hoping to have closure one way or the other today.

brutal

I didn’t get anything today either :frowning:

It’s frankly ridiculous that it’s June 30th and I still haven’t heard anything. This is my fourth decision from Georgetown since applying EA. Obviously it’s likely a rejection at this point, but I just want official closure. I’ll call their office for my decision tomorrow. I’ve heard of people doing this that didn’t get their mail by the date for regular decision.

Keep your head up @HSStudent938 - I think it’s good and healthy to get final, definitive closure. Please know that great things await you, and some how, I believe, this process has strengthened those of you on the EWA in ways you may not even be aware of yet. I really admire all of you who have made it to this point. I honestly hope that when my daughter applies this summer, that if she’s not going to be accepted, that she is denied outright instead of being asked to be placed on the EWL. This isn’t for whimps, that’s for sure!

The admissions office (or phone hours) is closed today and tomorrow, so I guess I’ll have to wait until Monday to call. Nothing in the mail today either.

…still nothing here either.

I would strongly recommend calling the GU Admissions office this week. I recall from last year that kids were still getting off of Ivy League waitlists in July so it is still likely that GU might have some openings this month.

Got the official letter that I was rejected.

Not sure if this means anything, but the letter says I would be given “strong consideration” if I applied as a transfer because of my continued interest. I’ve read on past threads that the EWL denial letter says that, but I wonder if its true or if its just meaningless.

Either way, I’m excited about the college I’m committed to(BC) and am looking forward to an exciting four years as an Eagle.

@HSStudent938 Did you get it via email or regular mail?

Still no word here either (for my daughter). Frankly, I feel like this EWL process is beyond just bad manners. It is downright sadistic. We are truly grateful for the fact that she has been accepted (and has committed to) another AMAZING school where she will thrive. Honestly, it is Georgetown’s loss; she is a phenomenal person.

HSStudent938 - First, congratulations on BC! Fantastic school. You should be very proud of this accomplishment and wonderful things await you this fall and the next four years.

As far as G’town, all of the EWL rejection letters state that “strong consideration” will be given if applying as a transfer student. Take this with a grain of salt. It will all depend on how large and how strong the transfer application pool is each year. This year the overall acceptance rate for transfer students was approx 13% this year. Next year it could be even lower.

So again, congrats on BC. Best of luck to your bright future.
